Loctite was mentioned earlier as a way of keeping the nut from loosening. This will work, its used in automotive applications and its basically a liquid thread locker.
I wanted to point out that it comes in different strengths. These are color coded blue, green, and red. Red loctite is the strongest and if you use this, sometimes it requires heat to break it loose, just in case you wish to remove them later to put on another strap. Therefore use the weaker Loctite just to prevent loosening of the nut. Also, it only takes a drop of this stuff to do the trick, you don't need to apply a ton of it on the threads.
