Are the back of the soloist necks painted?

    Re: Soloist necks?

All production Soloists have painted necks. You can specify an unfinished neck through the Custom Shop or some aftermarket work can be done to create it.

Except SLATQHs. They're oiled quartersawn mahogany.

        Cool, thanks.

Will the new JS30 series have painted necks?

I'm just asking cos I don't really care for painted necks.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Not all the SLATQ's are oiled. Actually, most of the current production are painted. In the 2003 Jackson catalog, it doesnt mention oiled necks for the SLAT models. I have one on order with Matt that will have a painted neck.....Cant wait!

What I meant by that was that the necks aren´t finished like the body, as you might find on most neck-thrus. I believe that´s what jade was asking about, not whether they´re oiled or satined.

Yeah, that's what I meant. The necks being finished like the body. I tried playing on those before and for some reason it felt really grippy in my hand. I couldn't get a smooth slide along the neck. Anybody else have that problem or am I just a freak? lol

                      Re: Soloist necks?

There are plenty of people who fancy a satined or oiled neck over a painted, just because they find them sticky. I´m not one of those people, however

I was told by both Matt, and Kevin that they can be ordered either way. The one I have on order is identical to this: Slatqh I also talked to a local dealer who told me the oiled MAH necks didn't go over well because of the open grain.

As far as the JS: Mine was clear satin from the factory.

I have A Charvel with "full Paint" which some of you may remember, fast enough for me and comfy, same with my flying v and lester.

But I find My DK-1s unfinished neck and the stripped neck on my ´88 Soloist by far faster and more comfortable.
