Just ordered a Jackson neck-thru, string-thru all black Star with an ebony fretboard and inverted Pentagrams in Abalone!! [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]
No i don't belong to the Church of Satan, but i've always wanted a black star and a white star(evil and good)!! [img]images/icons/cool.gif[/img]
The white Star will have gold hardware and abalone cross inlays. [img]images/icons/wink.gif[/img]
I think i'll have to keep the lights on while playing the black one!! [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Fun question. So many cool ways to go. I particularly like all the phases ideas expressed above.

Bare feet walking up the fretboard would be cool on a tie dye Soloist. Angus Young-style lightning bolts could look good with a Lightning Sky finish. Snowflakes (each one different, of course) could be cool on a white or silver guitar. Bats for a black guitar (I know, Schecter is already doing this, but you could do different looking bats). Scope sights would look killer on a guitar with a military or camo finish. Since it's your Custom Shop guitar, getting your fingerprints done as fret markers would really personalize it (I know it wouldn't be that accurate, but it would still be unique).

I prefer simple inlays as opposed to complex and frilly ones. If I'd get a custom, I'd probably go with no inlays at all, or with very simple yet original ones - like rings instead of dots or something like that.

I must say Iommi crosses look pretty wicked though - especially with binding.

I always liked the idea of a Guinness glass slowly emptying as you move up the neck!
Or, the Quake "Q" logo with a Bolted Steel, Granite, or Camo paintjob.

And bare feet's been done - ebony inlays on maple on a Surfcaster.

I've always wanted to have a goldish color mother of pearl, that outlined each fret, and that was also the same for the bindings. I love the inlay work on the UV777. I used to have one, and man was that guitar wicked looking.
