• Jackson Surfcaster neck....custom shop?

I lurk here off and on and dont post much but I tought one of you guys might be interested in this.

I got a Jackson Surfcaster neck from a guy who said he got it from the USA Jackson Custom Shop.
He said he bought it to put on his Reverend. There are tuners are on this neck (not Jackson) but they were never drilled on (no screw holes in the back of the headstock). Also there are no holes drilled for a truss rod cover. The neck joint has been drilled to match the bolt-on pattern of a Reverend. It was never drilled for anything else.
It has a stamp at the base: L-I L-III and a small circular pi type symbol written in marker (I have to check to confirm this is right). Big meaty frets. No wear.
I dont know where it was made but I do know it is not Korean as I got it before they started making them there. Also with the abscence of screw holes
on the back of the neck, headstock and truss rod, this would lead me to believe that he got as an uninstalled neck. I didnt think that the Custom Shop sold individual parts like this. Am I just uninformed?

So.....where is it from?

I wasn't aware that any surfcasters were ever built in the USA custom shop. Anyone know for sure?

Yeah, I like that one too. I think it would look even better with the footprints inlays..

Naw, it's just begging for some abalone sharks!
I just love the pointy headstock on that body, I never liked the "gumby" thing or any 3 to a side tuner headstock for that matter.

The logo leads me to believe that it seems to be an import neck. There's no "Made in USA" on it. Granted, I'm not positive that USA guitars were always labeled as such.
