• STOLEN GUITAR!

This is a really long shot...

A few years ago I owned a Jackson Strat-like guitar, probablya dinky.. It had a bolt on neck,
was ferrari red, with lightning sky finish.
Reverse headstock, and a few large paint chips.
Dark rosewood fingerboard, sharkfin inlays.
No binding on the neck or headstock.

Now, as I remember the neckmpalte was not with it, but it had a serial number beginnign with a 5.
WHich means it was not even reallya san dimas, right?

Anyways..story goes...left it at a friends house for a very long time. He moved away, and we lost contact. I heard thru a friend a while back he had sold it on harmony central. It was sold from Missouri.

Again, really long shot...
but has anyone ever seen a guitar like this for sale, or does anyone here own it?

I'll buy it back, as it was my first Jackson, and I really never finished it to get a chance to play it.

I know its a long shot, but with me getting my KV1 BGF from Kremit, I'de like to get my Jackson collection flowing again.

Worth a shot.

I'm not accusing him here, I am just wondering if that is who you are referring to.

Just trying to help.

I am not accusing anyone of anything.
I am not even sure that the axe I'm thinking of is the same.

Re: STOLEN GUITAR!

I know Joe (Charvel750) was selling one similar to that late last year.

And before any shit starts flying about accusations, stolen shit moves around. Something gets stolen, it gets pawned, it gets bought then pawned again then it's bought by someone else who moves and pawns it AGAIN when finally it's bought by some dude who knows WTF he's looking at that keeps it for the rest of his life not knowing that it was stolen from a guy he works with ten years ago. It's not accusatory to say that ANYONE who has EVER bought something at a pawn shop might have a stolen item.

Shit, my Iceman was stolen! My granddad bought it at a police auction.

Re: STOLEN GUITAR!

Yeah, the only person who does wrong in one of these situations is the first guy who took the guitar. Everyone else along the line is just buying a guitar. And in this case, I wouldn't be surprised if, since the guitar was left with him for a long time including after he moved away, the guy didn't consider it stolen so much as given to him (or inherited due to lack of interest from the original owner).

And Gwarghoul is willing to buy it back, knowing that whoever has it now, bought it legitimately without knowing it was his guitar.

But while we're on this topic, I'd like to add the Jackson guitar I'd like to buy back if anyone has it or sees it.

I had a 1989 Jackson strat-body guitar. It had a reverse headstock, single hum, three knobs (active electronics), maple fretboard, white/black crackle paint job, including white/black crackle paint on the headstock (making the white Jackson logo a little hard to read from a distance). Don't know the SN, but it had a San Dimas plate. It was my first Jackson guitar, and while it wasn't stolen, I'd still like to buy it back if anyone should have it or come across it.

Re: STOLEN GUITAR!

I bought what sounds like this very guitar from a JCF member. It originally was a JT6 trem guitar that had a Floyd added. The pickups were changed. I have detailed pics on a DVDRW, but ot will no longer open. If I can find the pics on another disk, I will post them. The case was a Kramer case. The serial # did not begin with a 5..

The guy I bought it from (rstites I think) bought it a week or two before I bought it on this forum. He couldn't justify owning it and sold it to me not too long after it arrived at his house. I owned it for a few months and sold it on eBay I believe early summertime. It had a bad vibe and was heavy, so I didn't mind moving it.

Re: STOLEN GUITAR!

I gave this a little more thought. I did not buy the red lightning guitar from rstites. There was a middle owner. rstites sold it to a forum member. I tried to buy it the first time but missed it. When the in between got it, he couldn't justify keeping it and sold it to me taking a small loss. rstites claimed to have owned it 'for a while' when I questioned what year it was and why he listed it as a San Dimas guitar when it really wasn't.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">So you're really Tom Scholz? That's AWESOME!!! I used to work for Steve Martin BTW (the plumber, not the comic)! It's also ironic that Tom Scholz couldn't get his Rockman fixed!! Sorry, but you have to apreciate that one!

To the issue, it's true, at this point GWARGHOUL is only interested in getting the guitar back, not in retribution. You did right to bring it up the way you did GG, and I hope someone can track it down for you. I had the same thing happen with a Hohner Clavinet that I had back in the mid-80s. I'd got it for $100, but didn't play very well - 1 semester of class piano at USM. I loaned it to a guy named Don Dunkovich who was my next-door neighbor. My roommate flaked and I moved across town, and a few weeks later I heard Don was moving, to Virginia I think (We were in Costa Mesa, CA at the time), so I called up to go get it back. The guy kept saying, "Not right now" and then left at midnight with my Clav! No biggie, I don't play well, but they were selling for $500 a couple of years ago! I bought it in 1986 when everyone was all about synths, so I could've done well on the resale. I'm sure Don Dunkovich has made some dough on it by now, and smoked it up too (crack).

Anyway, I feel your pain, GG. I hope you find that guitar.

I used to hate having someone say that line.."you're they guy from Boston huh?" but at least my name wasn't Slutsky, Rotencrotch, Wussberg or anything whacked as such.

I know he isn't coming after anyone. I just want to set my end straight. That is if we are even talking about THE very same guitar. I did find a pic. There were a few little details that would likely make this one stand out from another made to similar spec. I guess that is what would ID this particular guitar from any other.
