Re: STOLEN GUITAR!

As mentioned earlier, I owned this guitar at one point. I did buy it from someone in Missouri (90% sure - it's been awhile) as a partially complete guitar: neck, body, neckplate, and some hardware but missing some things that I had readily avaliable (electronics only, maybe?). I finished it, played it a while, and later sold it as a complete instrument. I got it without a case, so added the case when I sold it for a bit more shipping safety. Yes, it is fairly heavy. It's almost as heavy as my solid maple bodied Charvel.

Jim has already chimed in and he's the last owner I know of. I did sell it to someone else on this forum and I think he had it listed before he even received it - the C/J addiction I guess!

Yeah, you were just missing the tremolo spring cover plate. I added that while I had it.

On a good note, I found the current owner and put him in contact with GG.

Guess it wasn't a long shot after all, hey?

Kudos to all involved in trying to get the axe back.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I forgot about it missing the plates. (I got the electronics one from Justin at JC Guitars.) You know in all my years of buying used guitars, I swear I've only bought one that still had the tremelo spring cover plate. Where do all of these things go? I almost forget that they come this way when new! (I don't have a single guitar right now that has one, and I haven't pulled any of them off myself.)

Glad to hear the current owner is in contact. Good job.

Re: STOLEN GUITAR!

I used to take the trem plates off my guitars because a lot of my guitar heroes had guitars without trem plates.

I just threw them away after I took them off. I stopped doing that when I was about 17.

OK,

So Jim Shine found my guitar.
The owner got in touch with me. He wants way too much than I can afford at the moment, and doesn't look like he will hold it, or take any trades =(

Oh well, was worth a shot.
Thanks a lot guys.

Re: STOLEN GUITAR!

Now if we could just track down GG's old "friend" and beat the $ out of him, this could have a happy ending!

Sorry you can't get your guitar back now; too bad you didn't report it stolen back at the time, you might have a bit more leverage right now towards getting it back. Receiving stolen goods is a felony especially once you KNOW it's stolen. It's fucked up for the guy who bought in good faith though, so someone gets the short end regardless. Excellent tracking job by the JCF though!

Re: STOLEN GUITAR!

At this point it could be hard to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt it was THE same guitar. It had a serial number plate on it that was period correct and was in place when the past 4 owners had it. The guitar described was lacking the serial number plate as it is in GG's closet. I guess if one was able to get the work order # searched, they could see if the serial # matches, but I don't think anyone will do the search anymore.

I'm not sure about this because it's been a while since Business Law classes, but if I remember correctly (here in the Great White North anyway) if you leave property unclaimed for a specific length of time, it is considered abandoned. It is not the responsibility of the individual that has custody of the property to contact the owner. I'm pretty sure that after a year, property is considered abandoned.

Well,

Theres man's law, and theres the law by the book.
We often break both, I personally feel if a friend crosses me, or betryas me, he has broken something more significant than a law.

It was he whom moved with my property anyhow, and it wasn't a really long period I left it there.
I didn't want my dad to pawn it for booze.

Oh well, I'm trying to work something out.
If I can't I'll request the buyers info, and be sure to have the $$ to be next in line.

Sorry to hear it didn't work out, and I do agree about your situation. (I feel bad about this because I must be the one who bought it from your "friend". I console myself with the rationalization that at least I got it into a series of hands so that you could track it down! ) I have to agree about your situation. Moving off with your gear and not even trying to contact you is very uncool.

I have sold some things off that ended up in my hands, but it was all after several years and things that had been left in my studio/rehearsal by someone else. (I tried to contact someone in every case too.)
