Replacing a USA Schaller Floyd..

Hi all,

I just picked up that Custom Shop 91 Jackson Tele Soloist. It has a Jackson Floyd on made by Schaller:







Anyone know if I can swap an Original Floyd Rose in there without any problems? The Schaller is functional, but is decently tarnished/rusted and looks like crap on an otherwise pristine guitar.

Thanks so much.. Those are the best words I've heard all day! I'm allready dreaming about how damn good this guitar will look with a brand new Floyd in there.

I'll post pics as soon as guitar is all cleaned up and ready. I also need to get the Jackson "large" humbucker rings.

Make sure the block lengths are the same. If not, just disassemble and switch blocks.

The recessed area for a OFR is bigger than the Schaller.The OFR has the longer screws sticking out of the back of it.It will fit but you will not be able to pull up on the bar very much without hitting the body.

I've seen alot of places offering Knock-offs, but no schallers. I just want a new bridge that looks nice & schallers are just as good as floyds in my opinion.</font>

I don't think the Schaller-style screws will fit the OFR saddles.

Some Jacksons did have a long enough route to accomodate the OFR screws, some didn't. I think StewMac has shorter OFR-style screws as well (not sure).

If the baseplate and knife edges are still good, you can just get a complete saddle set (saddles and ALL the screws) from StewMac.

deviltronix, from the picture you posted you can see the fat saddle screws on the Schaller, and they deffinately won't fit the skinny holes on the original floyd pictured further down.

In addition to the OFR being to big for the routed area, you're better off buying a new Schaller.
You can get a new one from Warmoth.

Just buy another schaller off ebay or find one here.

Personally, I think the Schaller is a better unit than the OFR. The fine tuners have just a little bit more range... I just like it better.

StewMac sells new Schaller trems as well as the shorter Schaller screws.

I also think the Schaller Floyd is better than the Original Floyd, I have them both and the Schaller Floyd is much tougher made. I beleive the Schaller Floyd and Floyd 2 are one and the same? I do know the Floyd Pro is shorter with the locking screws on the top of the unit. Jack.

The earlier Floyd 2 is a single locking version. But I believe in later iterations the Schaller and Floyd 2 were one in the same.
