I find that the JB is brighter than the Distortion. The Distortion overdrives the amp more and has a bit more edge in the bottom end. The JB has more mids. Both are high output and very harmonically rich. I would suggest a JB in a darker tone wood like mahogony whereas the Distortion sounds right at home in the poplar/alder type of woods. I have no experience with either in basswood.
