EMG 81/85 in my two RR1
The best combination for Real Metal.
I tune to low B and I play through a Marshall JCM2000 DSL100. I really like the sound, very heavy and thick.

SL2H CHL: EMG 60/85 (I really like the 60).
SL2H-MAH TCB: JB/59 for the moment. I think I'll try an EMG 60A/89R combination quite soon.

I've currently got an EMG 81 in the bridge of my KE3 Kelly. The neck is stock.

Whenever it's convenient, I'll be throwing in a DiMarzio Steve's Special and AIr Norton. They're just waiting for me upstairs!

Re: What are you using (pickup wise) in your jacksons?

I use a Dimarzio Steve's Special in the bridge of my Soloist and a Duncan Full Shred in the neck. I was using a Distortion in the bridge until recently, and I'm kind of going back and forth on which I like better. The Steve's has more clarity, but the Distortion maybe sings a little more.

Re: What are you using (pickup wise) in your jacksons?

KVX10 (poplar): Duncan Distortion SH6 bridge/ stock Duncan designed HB-102 neck.
Using it tuned to Eb in my melodic death metal band.

DKMGT (basswood): Seymour Duncan JB TB4 bridge/ '59 SH1N neck.
Now using it tuned to B in my brutal death metal band.

Someone said it, and I second it: IMO the Distortion works very well in alder and poplar guitars... I just love the sound of my KV. And the JB seems to work well in the DKMGT with its basswood body. Thus, the sound is not to bright, and there's still some clarity there even now that I tune to B to match the other guitarists 7-string.

The carvins are nasty. The Jackson is decent. Please place your pride correctly. You are close. ...just a little direction.
