• USA or Not?? HELP!

So I found good price on what my mate told me was a usa SL2H, but I went to the shops website and the guitar is listed as...
"JACKSON JSL-2HBK GUITAR"
Does the J stand for Jackson or Japanese. I think it means it is a black jackson SL2H, but that J is freaking me out.

Sounds like an internal product numbering scheme - Email them for the serial number to be sure.

An SL2 would be USA. If "SL-2" or "SL2" is on anything other than a USA neckthru dual hum guitar, then they're wrong.

How about some info on the guitar or a link to that site so we can see what it is?

Wow. That was quick
The site is bad for those sort of details.

I will probably call them tomorow and talk about lowering the price, but I just thought you guys might be able to tell me if it is a USA or not.
Yeah xenophobe, I thought that to so I'm hoping it is. Fingers crossed guys.

Re: USA or Not?? HELP!

seems like it's an SL2H. For some reason, a lot of Jacksons have a "J" prefixed before their model name in here in Oz. That's why a lot of the imports will be advertised as JPC3, JKV3, JKE3, etc. The "BK" is probably a colour designation.

That price isn't too bad considering RRP is $4995 here. But you could probably import for less...

Couldn't that also be a Japanese-market Soloist? The Japanese naming scheme is slightly different, but similar enough to make you wonder:

Plus, it might not be that unusual to have a Japanese-market guitar in Australia, would it?

Re: USA or Not?? HELP!

I've never seen a Japanese-market Jackson advertised here, but it could be.

But that model number just seems to be an SL2H to me, as I said. "J" for Jackson - SL2H as per the Jackson site - and "BK" as a colour designation. And the price is about right for a US model after dealer markdown.

A lot of dealers here seem to do it. It sounds more impressive than just selling DR3s, for example, when they can sell you JDR3TR (a Jackson DR3 in Trans Red) or a JDR3TB or a JDR3BK or whatever - so many more models to choose from
I think it's a hold-over from the Ibanez model numbering system, where you don't just buy an RG520 - it's an RG520QS (quilt sapelte) or an RG520TB (trans blue)

I sure wouldn't get too excited without seeing at least a picture of what I was considering buying.
