    Chirp...chirp...

I think its almost impossible to make a definitive statement regarding SD fret sizes when new.
I'm not under the impression that much was standardized as far as specifications went, so fret sizes will vary, although most were certainly built with what would now be labeled 6100s.

Further clouding the waters is taking measurements from several 15 to 20 year old guitars, some which have been refretted, lots that had Grind and Polishes done, some more than others, and no definitive answers can be had.

    They're all a little different.

All factory literature refers to standard fretsize as being "Jumbo" by name only (for Jackson style necks and Strat head style necks).

This is what they used unless a customer specifically asked for something different.

6100's are massive frets and I do not think that is what was standard. I have a few that are original and obviously seldom used and they feel smaller than 6100's. I don't have any raw 6150 or 6100 wire to compare but I would say the 6150 is probably your closest option.

Jackson's website still lists the KV2 as having Jumbo frets, but it doesn't; they're "standard" size. It lists the other USA Select models as also having Jumbos, which they actually do.

I wish they would straighten that out.

My pet peeve agiain: What size fret exactly is a "Jumbo"? Dear Manufacturers: Either tell us the dimensions or refer to the Dunlop numbers. Don't tell me your guitar has "Jumbos" on it. That don't mean a damn thing to me.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Those are medium/jumbo, if that helps any. Dunlop makes something like 29 different fret sizes, so it's almost next to impossible to measure a used fret and compare it to what they list. And that's only if the fret in question is made by Dunlop.
