Took me a sec to work out how it fixes to the body too (I'm not too bright) Which will be even cooler again once it's on an axe

Well now, you know I'm going to have a few questions about this right?
-what finish is on the brass base and are the saddles clearcoated?
-What type of brass did you use for each of the parts?
Looks great bro...I'd give you a toast but there is none

Hey Dave,
The Plate was bead blasted and will probably be polished. The Saddles are some V-Trem saddles and will be replaced when I get the programs (and the time)done to cut some of my own.
Don't worry - I'll smack her if it comes to that. You do not sell guitars to buy shoes. You skimp on food to buy shoes!~Mrs Tekky 06-03-08~
they may do that, yeah, but that's why it's a prototype!
this is the start of something that kev and i have been talking about getting around to for a few years now.
i'm pretty excited, to say the least, but i'll be more excited when i'm able to start on the projects that those hardtails will go on; it's gonna be pretty special, and that's all i'm sayin!
Tech question: won't the small (hardened) height adj. bolts groove the brass plate pretty quickly?

Yes and no. The saddles only move for intonation so they really won't wear a groove because you don't have constant movement. They will leave an impression in the brass. This was true of the old hardtails as well as v-trems. 1 Thing I may consider doing is adding slots for the set screws to ride in.
On another note Sully and I spoke about where this was going etc and we have a really cool idea that I hope will pan out. I also have a concept for anew type of hardtail and when I work it out I'm hoping it will be well received..

I think the slots would be an excellent improvement to help keep the saddles in line but as far as wear, if you're using a half hard or even hardened brass, you should be fine. Like you said, the saddles are not going to see alot of travel.
