  • New Charvels

Hey, everybody. Two questions for you, both about the resurrected line of Charvels being made by Fender.

First, has anyone played any of them and what did you think?

Second, where are the lower-end models made?

    Thanks for any responses.

    Re: New Charvels

They're not made by Fender. FMIC (Fender Musical Instruments Corp.) is the parent company of JCMI. (Jackson/Charvel Musical Instruments) While their USA production facilities co-habitate in the same building, the processes are very much separate.

The current (now discontinued) import models (made in Japan) have been discussed over in the Import Charvel section, and other than the 25th Anniversary, most of us haven't had an opportunity to get our hands on the new USA models. (but mine's coming soon!)

A few of us will be getting the opportunity to try out factory-fresh Charvies at Summer NAMM...reports will flow in daily.

            Re: New Charvels

            Excellent! Thanks for the photos.

Kind of a side tangent to my original question: An old friend of mine has a white (but yellowed) Model 2 in great shape...he rarely ever touches it. It could use a new pickup, and the Jackson trem could stand an upgrade to a real Floyd. He'd sell it to me fairly cheap. I'm torn between this and picking up a Journeyman and dropping a Floyd into it. Any thoughts?

Grab the Model 2! The upgrades are well worth it and a guitar like that should not sit idle.

I really like the tele-charvel with the Floyd Rose.

Yeah, so do I. Due to a little misunderstanding, I thought that was what I ordered. However, I'm sure I'll be happy with the Standard shape. There's always time to order the Tele (aka the Traditional)...
