Re: Help me find a Jackson please!!!

Dude, it's obvious from your posts that you don't even know what you want and probably wouldn't be able to distinguish anyway. The best advice I can give you is get a cheap Ibanez or Jackson import off ebay for round $200 (make sure it can house a humbucker), and then buy an EMG 81 or Dimarzio X2n or Duncan Distortion & put it in there. That will hold you over while you spend the next year or so saving & researching guitars. BTW, the heaviest pickup in the world is not gonna make a shitty amp sound good.
I'm not trying to be a dick. It takes time to know what you want in a guitar, and throwing money at the problem will just prolong you getting what you really want.

I can't disagree. However, I don't even want a DK2 as my first choice. That H/S/S set up is not sitting well with me, unless some of you could assure its performance in high output metal, or maybe suggest me some of the the single-coild sized humbuckers.

Also, please do not forget further comments on the Ibanez and the rest of the Jacksons. Thanks!

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">No, take it easy on the singlecoils. Like I mentioned before, what you need is a good bridge humbucker and that will give you all the metal tone you initailly need. Worry about the singlecoils later.

A solid metal tone is built on a good humbucker in the bridge position. The other pickups expand upon the versatility of the guitar - the neck pickup can give you a round tone for clean sounds and some leads, but you won't be using it for metal rhythms, period. That's what the bridge humbucker is for.

I mainly wanna play lead, and hopefully have something to get the rhythm too. I'm seriously considering the DK2, lets see if I could save up for it.

Deviltronix, thanks for the blunt reply bro. You are right, I don't know much about the guitars, that is why I came to you guys. Could you yourself recommend me of any lefty imports?

Finally, you guys all agree that Ebay is the only place to get those rare Jackson guitars? Aren't there any other sources? Thanks everyone for replying!

I skimmed this post so I may have missed something here. Is this your first guitar? If so you can consider learning to play right handed. This will save you money and give you a larger supply of guitars to choose from. Michael Angelo is a natural lefty and he plays right handed.

I might be selling my lefty Stealth. You can check out my web (see link below) and let me know if your interested. It's got a thin neck, a little wide and as for me, I've probally played the fastest on this one. The bridge pickup is very hot and I can get that pitched-harmonic thing happening without any effort. It's needs a little TLC which I've not had a chance to do.

btw, I'm naturally righty but play lefty

Re: Help me find a Jackson please!!!

What's wrong with single coils? If you're so peeved about them, stick in some Seymour Duncan Hot Rails and that will turn your HSS pickup layout into a virtually HHH layout. Maybe it's because I've always had single coils in all my electric guitars so far (except my KE3, which has an EMG-89 that can be split to single coil mode), so I'm partial to them. There's nothing quite like the wicked spiky sound of a single coil in the neck position, and all my guitars have a single coil in the neck one way or another (EMG-89 splittable, and Seymour Duncan Hot Rails splittable). GodWentPunk, please check your PM.

As for the rest, which ones are the model 5/6? Can anyone confirm theri lefty availability? Also, has anyone heard of the lefty performer series? I think those guitars have what I like.

Finally, I did consider coil-tapping, but I think its not the issue right now, as I'm too confused already . Anyway, thanks for the replys. Thanks for the replys!

Then just swap out the stock single coils with single coil sized humbuckers like the Hot Rails and you will be a happy camper.

Not to cloud the water but I am a lefty but I
never even thought about playing left handed.
think about which hand has to be all over the
fretboard and which hand has to pick and strum!
Anyway if you could do the "righty" thing your
choices would open up a hundred fold!

Fragger,

how long have you been playing.

if i were you, i'd do my self the biggest favor for "in the long run" and eiter:
1, learn to play right handed or
2, learn to play a right handed guitar - upside down.

why, because you going to have the hardest time finding left handed guitars set up the way you want. and be forced to settle or get a custom shop. many lefthanded player have gone this route so that they could buy and use standard guitars.

most, including jimmi hendrix, have had much success this way.

Hey Fragger! Here's yet another cool suggestion:
A MusicYo Kramer Baretta! Here's a brand new lefty model for $329! And you said you like the DK-2? How about NECK THROUGH, dude?!
