The JE-1000 has a 3 toggle dip switch, almost like a mini-EQ to shape your sound. I've messed with the ones on mine and I couldn't really notice a difference with the my guitar. I'm looking for the JE1000G and JE1000GT. I'm crossing my fingers.

I've seen the PA-2 and it too has the gain pot where you can dial-in the amount of boost you want. Although I've not heard anything, I may try one.

I have the pa2 on my dinky and love it.I never messed with the other ones though.They do get a little noisy if you turn them up to much.

I own both JE1000 I have in a Schon has 4 dip switcthes and a gain pot sound as good as the PA2 as far as boost goes. I've only used the PA2 with EMG pickups so I don't know how it works with passive pickups. PA2 is about $35 list, JE1000 was a $100 back in 1986 and I don't know how much they be now. I'ld go with the PA2 easier to find and if you need some EQ EMG make great one as add ons.
