SL1 and SL2 have ebony fret boards. SL3 and SL4 have rosewood. SL! and SL2 have binding on neck and headstock, 3 & 4's don't. I used to have an SL3, and I thought it was a really nice guitar, until I got my SL2H. once I played that and then I went back to my SL3, it felt like a cheap pice of import crap. Hard to explain, just a huge quality difference, but if you can pick up a used 3 or 4 for say $500.00 or less I'd say go for it, at that price they are great guitars.

Now if you find a MIJ 90's Soloist pro... That is a different story, they feel just like a USA model. They rawk!!!

One of the imports (SL3 or SL4) only has 22 frets. I can't remember which one offhand.

yea its the sl4 that got 22 frets iv'e got one i
bought it second hand in perfect condition half price
on ebay trans blue. i would not pay the new price for

i'd say, for the money you have to pay for a sl3 or 4 you'd better search for a soloist pro or a model 5 or 6/650xl or 750xl, those are better for the money you pay.

Anyone saw the Satin Black Sl3... it just looks wrong with rosewood fingerboard and no bindings...
