• Guitar?

Hey, if I wanted to get a Jackson, but I only have $600, then what you recommend I look at. I love Jackson guitars, but I have heard their lower end stuff isn't the best. I have only played Jackson's high end guitars, dreaming that one day I can purchase one. I wanted to get a guitar with REAL emg's in it also. What should I be looking at or playing? Thanks

For 600 you can easily get a new DK2. They are a great guitar for the money. They blow away the Ibanez stuff for the same price. They are also made in Japan. Which is a good thing

Re: Guitar?

I second the DK2. You can get good basic-finish ones for as low as $350 with some shopping (check the sites that don't list their prices and want you to e-mail them for the best deals), and it's solid and a very good player's guitar for the price.

I'd try to find one in Eerie dess, but that's just me.

And I'll third the DK2. You can probably buy one and a set of EMGs for $600.

DK2s are great but if you don't like the hum/single/single ( like me ) go for the DKMG or DKMGT - you'll still have more than enough $ to throw in an 81/85 combo.

Dudes, come on, for $600 he should be looking at used USA models or early-90s Professional models on Ebay.
Screw the DK-2 - if you're ready to spend $600, you can find one way better than the newer imports.

Re: Guitar?

If you want new - DK2 and add some pickups. If you want used like Newc said, with some searching you could find a USA.

While its not a Jackson look for a clean Charvel model 6 or 650xl. The poor mans soloist. Trust me you won't be disappointed.

I further the Mod6 recommendation--and would add in the Model 5, as well. That's a great way to get into Jacksons--even if it says "Charvel" on the headstock!

model 6 / 7 / 650 // 750 - they are all getting awesome reviews here.

try finding a Pro from early nineties ( same as US models ) or STD ( neck through body , rosewood fb no binding and dots )

maybe sl3 ? rr5 ? i don't know
for that cash you'll be able to find a neck thru guitar definitively.

I'm with Newc. $600 or so should get you a fairly nice used USA off of Flea-bay.

model6,4 650,475....all great guitars, and to me all jackson/charvel
its similar to buell/harley-davidson or big twin/sportster. all are made by same company

Re: Guitar?

It really depends if it's new or used, and if you're willing to wait or not.

Over at Easton Guitars, Kevin is making a nice run of DK2's with maple board and only one EMG, that will be $424. I think that's a steal. If it were an ebony board, I'd buy one.

But you can get a great deal on a used USA if you pick carefully and are patient.
