I used to own a Charvel Model 6 (circa.1988), and I sooooooo regret getting rid of it years ago! Didn't much like the original Jackson pickups it had, but man, that thing felt just like a Jackson Soloist to me...I own a couple of DK2's now, and for the money, there is nothing wrong with the Japanese imports, I don't think...

I'd have to go with the DK-2 myself cause I just bought one. I got mine used but practicaly new. I love it and haven't had any major complaints. Plus it is going to be less than 600 so you can put what's left toward saving for the USA jackson. The DK-2 will definitely satisfy the need for a Jackson though IMO. IT DID FOR ME!!! Mine had a sd screamin demon in it when i got it though so I don't know how the stock would sound but the sd is awesome.
