Looks like Fender had a ton of relic'd guitars there - Now, I like the Rory Gallagher strat, and the aged 50's strats, but did we really need a aged/buggered 70's strat, complete with clumsily routed Floyd and bridge hum? http://www.pbase.com/image/31828691

Well, I bet that Floyd is not clumsily added. That style is an odd choice being '70-'71 style Strat but also has an extra fret. It could have been worse, they could have done a post '71 style. At that point it would be more than a modified original.

Yeah I know - I think it's funny that its a replica of what a lot of people did to their strats in the early 80's. I just remember the mid 90's backlash against these hot rodded guitars. The common sentiment ten years ago was - "How could you RUIN your strat by adding a Floyd?"

Even less than 10 years ago it was something seen as a bad thing. In '97 Fender released a special CS '69 Strat relic model with Floyd Rose and humbucker. They sold less than 40 and it has since become an underground collectable.
