Who has checked out any of the new Jacksons since Fender bought them. Do they even come close to the older ones. I live in the boonies, so unfortunately I haven't been able to see for myself as the closest dealer is about 100 miles away. I 'm considering buying a new SL1 so any info would be appreciated. Thanks, jacksonfan

Re: How\'s the Fender Era Jacksons
hmm, let's say we forgive you because you're a newbie, so first things first: welcome aboard.
second, I think you should try the searchfunction. this is already an "ancient" subject over here. I have heared from: remained the same to "it gets better". but that's already a looooong time ago that we had the last thread about that.

Re: How\'s the Fender Era Jacksons
This is one of the latest threads where people talked about it and yes, this has been discussed in many threads in last 1 and half year I believe.
Post Fender?

Re: How\'s the Fender Era Jacksons
Thanks dinkyjacksonman. Local guitar stores carry crappy cheapo guitars for the most part and it's hard to find a Import Jackson much less a USA model to check out. I have a few older used Jacksons , some import jacksons and some parts guitars that I've bought from mail order catalogs and ebay. I just hadn't heard anything about the new Jackson's. Looks like the opinions are mixed, but sooner or later I'll get to check one out. If it's a Jackson it can't be too bad. Thanks, jacksonfanAre YOU a Jackson Warrior? Re: How\'s the Fender Era Jacksons
I wouldn't say that opinions on "post fender" Jacksons are mixed, if you're relying on the thread dinkyjacksonman provided as your sole indication. There actually isn't a single review of a "post fender" guitar in there. Just the usual off topic discussion about the whole pre/post thing, and guys discussing the wait times on their expected SLSs.
From what I've seen around this forum, reviews are almost without exception very positive, particularly regarding turnaround times & quality control since Fender took over. And as you can see on Jackson's site, the guitar are still very "Jackson". Not a plastic pickguard or 3-single-coil pickup config in sight (apart from the Surfcaster, and that was around way before Fender) Hail yesterday

Re: How\'s the Fender Era Jacksons
Well I think quality & playability has stayed the same. My local store has had some pre & post FMIC Jacksons that I have tried out.
Pre FMIC: PC1, Y2KV, SL1, Used Shannon soloist, & Various import models
Post FMIC: DK1, SL2H, RR1T, JS30 models & other imports
All I can say is that they all played great and I did not notice a difference in quality or playability. As far as tone, each model varied a little from the other models, but most still sounded great. Although the lower import models I feel need a pickup change (excluding the DXMG), but that was the same for pre & post FMIC.
Obviously the USA models felt more solid than the imports due to better quality materials & parts. Quality & playability comments were USA vs USA & Imports vs Imports.KV DM PRO, SLSXMG, RRXMG, DXMG, LP P90 Goldtop_GSP1101_RM4: JF SL-OD100_Randall RT2/50_Peavey 4x12 cab

Re: How\'s the Fender Era Jacksons
It is black & I believe the asking price is 1,000.
I was going to say the DXMG quality has gone up, butthe production move to Japan happened Pre FMIC, so nevermind.

Re: How\'s the Fender Era Jacksons
Well, I just bought a new SL1. Having played several Jackson's in '86 (never owned one) I'd say the quality is as good or better. The SL1 that I just bought is "flawless". I've been playing for 38 years and have built guitars also. It's not to say, like anything you can get a "Lemon", one that didn't quite make it in the Quality department. I bought a new Fender Malmsteen from Musicians Friend last summer. When it arrived, I checked it out. It was a hunk of junk. You could see the wood grain through the finish. The frets were not leveled, and the finish was not completely buffed. I returned it for an exchange, because I have never seen a Fender product in bad shape like this guitar was. The exchange guitar was perfect! Perfect in everyway. But I do see that quality is very high on these "new" Jacksons, especially the USA models.
