Re: Your first Jackson experience

Of Course Randy... and Kirk Hammet. My first Jackson was a Neckthru Errie Dess Soloist in 1995. My wife got it for me for Christmas, after she saw I wouldn't put it down at a visit to the local guitar shop. Funny thing was, I went back to get the guitar the next day...and she had already had the owner take it off the shelf. So I decide to pickup up a Jackson Fusion instead. The owner denies my credit (cause my wife has the guitar on layaway already) and I get totally pissed cause I know my credit was good! Anyway...I get the guitar on Christmas Day. And from that point on I become a Jackson believer. My Wife really suprizes me sometimes. Know if I can just get her to do that for me this Christmas with a PCS or Randy LTD. HHHMMM...... Re: Your first Jackson experience

My first in-person experience was at Ed Roman's store in Danbury Connecticut around 1987-8. I wasn't allowed to touch them. Brian Guitars had a couple and I tried them for the first time there. I remember asking my local music store if they ever came in used and the guy said they did, but they had a long waiting list for them and they could sell them for close to what they sold for brand new. People didn't want to order and wait months for their Jackson's, so used models were desireable at that point in the late 80's.

My first Jackson was a bolt on Dinky.

I practically lived at Brian guitars! I never really liked dealing with them though. They had a real cheesy, used car type sales team. He would get in some pretty cool Jacksons. I remember seeing snake skins and other cool graphics all the time. Man that brings back memories!

                      Re: Your first Jackson experience

Mt first Jackson experience was trying a Rhoads in a guitar store in 1988. I eve remember it's color: white with some ugly color swirl on the front. I liked the size, weight, and sound of it a lot. I remember even making the store guy have to plug in a 50-watt single-speaker Marshall amp that was close to being like mine at the time, so I can hear the guitar and not the amp. The playablity of the neck was also good. It sold me, because I began saving and had a nice black one a few months later (in 1989). It's odd that I got sold on a guitar with an ugly finish, but I did.

I haven't actually gotten my Japanese JDR-94 Jackson yet, but I won it on eBay a month ago. What should I expect as far as in playability, the H/S/H layout (which is one of the reasons I got this guitar), and tone??? jacksonfan, how is your PS4, and could you please provide pics!?!?!? Hey Metal_Maniac, Here's a few pics of my PS4 though they did not turn out very good. The red-violet metallic is a pain to try to shoot. As for the HSH configuration, it has alot of tonal variation stock, but I wanted a little more ommph in the bridge so I installed a EMG 81 and a mini toggle to switch between the active EMG and the stock Jackson pups. The playability is pretty good and I'm quite happy with it overall. I too am a little concerned about how long your guitar is taking to arrive. You should contact the seller and see what is going on, ask for a tracking number ,etc. Hope you get it soon.

Thanks to everybody for replying, it sure brings back some good memories.

Well the first Jackson I ever saw, was a Rhoads in my local music store. That was the coolest looking guitar I had ever seen and I had just started listening to Ozzy. So when the Sales person told me that guitar was designed by Ozzy's guitarist, I was hooked. Shortly thereafter I saw the Round & Round video, Wasps Video, as well as pics in the albums. As another has stated, so many that I liked (Anthrax, Randy, Iron Maiden, Mustaine, etc) were playing Jacksons that I was hooked.

Funny that my 1st Jackson was acquired just 3 years ago. It is a DXMG that I still own. Since then a PRO King V, a Stealth, & a Charvette.
