Re: First Red EVH is Up

I am a big EVH fan (see username), so I'm biased and like most stuff he does (though there are a couple of stinkers on VHIII). So, if I had sufficient disposable income (which I do not), I would definitely buy one; heck with enough disposable income, I'd probably buy one of each color.
But hey, I'm "EVHwannabe", so I guess that goes without saying.

As for the specific paint jobs - I've always thought the other pre-pro black and yellows looked funny because they weren't "exactly" like the main one; but heck, I'm sure EVH didn't spend years pain-stakingly coming up with the originals - he probably just slapped some stripes on them and fired up the spray paint - so if he'd been in a different mood that day, the originals probably would have looked like these or something different anyway. I think we are just so used to them, variations look weird and bad.

Wow...that one guy has dropped nearly $40,000 on three guitars. Impressive and/or insane.

These prices are ridiculous. I've always hated the VH stripes. I did see something interesting once. A Fernandes someone had VH striped, Burgandy mist metallic with black stripes, very interesting.

No one I'll go for one at that price. Wonder how they play?

Re: First Red EVH is Up

It's a rather interesting combo on the b&w and r&w paint jobs. I guess I kind of like it from the standpoint that it's not one of the "sacred three" EVH color combos.

That said, for the money for just one of those EVH-painted guitars, you could buy a pretty nice collection of custom guitars and amps.
Takeoffs are optional but landings are mandatory.

Re: First Red EVH is Up

Anyone given any thought to, especially the person that won 3 of them so far, as to what kind of player they are. It's been my experience that when you have tons of money and can buy stuff like $40k worth of EVH's that the person buying is usually well off, lawyer, doctor, etc and can't hardly play! Now there are exceptions to the rule, but when I worked retail at a music store, the guy buying the $4k Historic Gibson could barely play an e chord. So these guitars will probably barely get played and just hang on a wall which to me is now what guitar is for. You have to play it. Just food for thought.
