Re: Jackson necks and the Wizards....

when i talk about width i'm talking about across the fretboard not thickness from front to back...front to back, jacksons are a little thicker...i merely posted the fretboard width because you said you didn't have long fingers... ...i don't have long fingers either and the fretboard width on my guitars is 1.75" ...it really is all in what you get used to...d.m.

OHH, well thanks for clarifying that. Isn't the thickness of the neck determined by its radius? If so, don't Jacksons and the DK2 have compound radius? I think it starts from 10 and goes to 16, am I right? If so, I think I compared the radius as well, and the Wizard II was still more. Could you shed some light on that. Also, did I understand this right then, when people say Jacksons have thicker necks they mean the radius and not the width, ESPECIALLY in terms of the DK2? Thanks for all your help!

Re: Jackson necks and the Wizards....

radius is the curvature or flatness of the fretboard...ibanezes are a little flatter...jacksons use a compound radius that is rounder towards the nut and gets flatter as you move towards the 22nd (or 24th) fret...my other guitar player in devane is left handed so i know the problems you have in finding good guitars to lay your hands on...overall i prefer jacksons cos they seem to hold up longer...but you've gotta play what's comfortable to you...try and do a little more hands-on research if you can before making your decision...d.m.

Yes there is subsitute for hands-on trial. You guys have helped me a lot, as I learned some new stuff from this thread. Thanks to everyone who participated. Still, if I could have gotten some more views on the DK2's neck and some pictures of its thickness, it would have been nicer. So if any of you have something like that to share, please do so, I would appreciate it. Thanks again!

Re: Jackson necks and the Wizards....

Hey man, there is nothing wrong in liking the USA series . God knows if I could afford it, I would have been the same USA snob !

Yeah Kevin is a great guy, with good prices. Don't know how much he would help me in getting the information, but when I have the money, I will certainly go for Him or Matt, who is also a great guy. Take care man!
