I got my 25th Anniversary Charvel from Matt's Music on Friday. This guitar is beautiful. However, upon closer inspection I notice the Cream Plastic bobbin is cracking down the middle? I get sent to an Authorized Fender/ Jackson Repairman at the local Guitar Store. I'm thinking great...my guitar will be out of commision while I have to wait for a new pickup to be installed by an authorized repairman. Anyway, I get to the store today and the repairman(and every other staff member who came by to check out my Charvel) said he could try to go through Fender for help, but I would just get dicked around. He said though Fender would pay him well to get a replacement and install it, it just wasn't worth the hassle to go through FIMC for help! He says he sometimes does free work for customers just to avoid working with Fender on repairs. He suggested I contact Seymour Duncan directly about a replacement. I guess Seymour Duncan is very customer friendly...while Fender is well...NOT! Sure enough, It took a few minutes to contact the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop and there staff member says yep, she noticed some of the plastic bobbins on a few of the latest batch of Custom Shop bobbins showed some cracks. All, I have to do is mail it back to them and they will mail me a new one. The thing that really bothers me about this is that Fender's customer service got nothing but a poor review by everyone I spoke with. Even the repair guy who is supposed to work directly with them. There is something to be said for the small business owner who makes it his business to keep the customer satisfied. Fender would be wise to consider that they are in the customer service business, even after thier product has left the factory and made to thier customer's hands. Especially at the prices that are being paid for these great Charvel Guitars.

Re: Pickup problem with 25th Anniv. Charvel!
Why was the repair guy going to call Fender about a Seymour Duncan pickup on a Charvel?

Re: Pickup problem with 25th Anniv. Charvel!
Newc... I got sent to the repair guy by Matt at Matt's Music. All I know is I paid top dollar for a guitar, find a problem with it...contact Matt for help...and he gets told that the Authorized Fender/ Jackson repair guy is my contact for help. Had I known that I was to do all the leg work myself...hey wait a minute this is FIMC's problem to help me with?

Re: Pickup problem with 25th Anniv. Charvel!
I can understand the guy's authorized for both Fender AND Jackson repairs, but did the guy not know he was supposed to call Jackson about it, not Fender?

Re: Pickup problem with 25th Anniv. Charvel!
Ok, I think I get it now. FMIC moved the Ft Worth Service Center to Arizona, but I thought the J/C department was still separate, but it seems it's all Fender Service. That's stupid IMO as each brand should have its own specialized service department.

Re: Pickup problem with 25th Anniv. Charvel!
I totally agree, a Jackson/ Charvel Customer Service Specialist would be a great idea NEWC...from what Matt told me, The Jackson Custom Shop (Tools, Luthiers etc...) pulled up tent stakes and are working under Fender's roof now.

Yeah they moved to Corona a while back and are in the other half of the Fender building on their own side on their own machines.
The Charvel bodies are being made on Fender's machines (next to Strats and Teles) until they get new stuff in for the J/C side.

Re: Pickup problem with 25th Anniv. Charvel!
Thanks NEWC... my 25th. Anniversary's body is beautiful. And the Neck, even the repair guy kept talking about the workmanship. Plays like broken-in vintage one. I can't wait to see the new Pointy Heads. The local GC said they didn't know when they would receive a New Charvel catalog...said it was in the works. I could of swore I saw one posted here???

Re: Pickup problem with 25th Anniv. Charvel!
They posted the price list, but there was no catalog at NAMM.
I started to take pics of the book they had at NAMM, but Tekky kept stopping me saying "Dude, all that's gonna be on the Charvel.com website" - I shoulda took the pics anyway cuz it took 'em so long to post it and it's still not finished
