Any digital camera will do nowadays. The Nikon CoolPix and Sony Cybershot series are both awesome affordable digicams. Anything with 2 megapixels is fine for 640x480 regular size pictures which is the resolution I always shoot in anyways. Anything more is an incredible waste unless you're planning to print out photos after taking them in ridiculous resolutions. After megapixels, the next biggest price-affecting factor is optical zoom. The more optical zoom a digicam has, the more expensive and generally the bigger the camera is going to be. Most common cameras have 3x. Some of the cheapest have none. So, if you just want something cheap, get something between 2 to 3 megapixels with 0x to 3x optical zoom. Lots of cameras in that range.

You can buy a cheap webcam and take good pics especially with light from outside during the day time.

The software and webcam are much better these days and better resolution as well.
Always better using light from outside and take during the day time.

The new digi cam I have now is much better and takes great pics in the right light. Too bad I still suck at taking pics, though. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] I need to really sit down, read the book and really absorb all the info. It's 5 megapixels, has 4x digital zoom (not optical), four different image sizes; small: 1280 x 960; medium 1600 x 1200; large 2048 x 1536; extra large 2560 x 1920.

Toejam, try this sometime. Take a guitar outside on a stand in a shaded (but still bright) spot, like the side of the house that's shaded on a bright sunny day. Set up the camera so that you can capture the guitar without using ANY digital zoom at all. Put it on a tripod if you have one. If not, rest the camera on something stable, or bring a chair outside and rest the camera on the back of the chair while you sit backwards in it. Snap one photo at each of the different resolutions your camera offers, keeping the camera in the same spot, and use your software to reduce the pictures down to 640x480. Pick the best one and that should be your resolution you would use for the best 640x480 pictures. Also, post the pictures here so we can have a good laugh too. Remember, the idea is to keep all the factors the same except for your camera resolution just to see which one yields the best pictures. NO DIGITAL ZOOM!

Agreed. You probably took that one during a bright sunny day with the light pouring into your living room there which helped your shutter speed increase which in turn reduces hand-shake for sharper clearer pictures.

Veering away from the digi-cam discussion and back to Kellys....does anyone have, or know of a full list of all Kelly models made and perhaps the years and/or serial number ranges? Eg. KE1F, KE2, KE3Pro, KE2-T etc etc...

Hey all - update...

Ben Toorn gave me an idea to include a specifications page where the exact specs of the various Kelly models can be found. At the moment it is purely the info from the current Jackson site but I hope (with your help) to expand this to cover various years etc etc.

So - if you have any old catalogues with full specs in them I would appreciate any info you can give.

Next time I get a free moment I'll make the specs page a bit more user friendly and try and troll around for some more content.

Those of you who have not given me permission to use your Kelly's pics yet - plesae do - I want as many as I can get.

If there are any other ideas keep them coming....
