Re: What is your dream guitar?

Double Rhoads
27" scale length
Scaled-up reverse headstock
Black hardware
27 frets
Soloist style neck joint & comfort bevel
1 7/8" or 2" nut width
Onboard effects

I think that would make for quite a unique axe!

My dream guitars are old style USA Charvels, like the originals of the San Dimas period, but with some soft improvements.

Full size Strats and star bodies, rear routed
Old style graphic or figured body wood
Oil finished birdseye maple neck, 1 11/16" nut width, 0.775" - 0.835"
Strathead or pointy headstock
Brazilian rosewood fretboard, abalone dot inlays
22 jumbo frets
Bolt-on, 3D Charvel neck plate
Original Floyd Rose, recessed
Schaller tuners (not Gotoh)
Seymour Duncan HSS or 2S, TB-6 in bridge position
Mini toggle switches (HSS) or 2way toggle (2H)

Re: What is your dream guitar?

Ken knows what mine would be, and I won't go into detail here - I'm saving and saving for it

Suffice to say it's based on the Warrior but with a twist
As for "not-so-secret specs":
-Mahogany body and neckthrough with ebony board (inlays not decided yet)
-Slanted fretboard (top slant or reverse slant, I don't know)
-Double Hums (Duncans - Distortion (B) and Custom (N) probably)
-Recessed OFR
-24 frets
-'62 SG neck profile with 'Jackson Flat' radius fretboard
-Tall Skinny frets
-Headstock undecided (3x3, standard, reverse)
-Color/graphic undecided

OR, if I had Bill Gates' money, I'd get that AND a Custom Jackson Warrior 5-string bass, but the body would be very huge - maybe 3" or more larger in both directions than the current model
It'd have a 'Flying Fortress' graphic

Re: What is your dream guitar?

SO far... you guys are all nuts. Remember... you are getting a BLANK CHECK!!!!! Here are some of my choices. Money talks and the check I would write out would be whatever it takes.

I would have a few choices:
Ace Frehely's Cherry Sunburst Triple pickup Les Paul
The Holy Grail EVH guitar
Zack's original Bullseye
The most expensive PRS Dragon ever made.
The 1st Crystal Planet Satch guitar
One of Hendrix's actual strats, preferably the one that was burnt and restored. I think Dweezil owns it now.
John Lennon's Epi Casino or his Rickenbacker Capri
The Gibson SG that was given to Clapton by Harrison that is owned currently by Todd.
Paul Mcartney's Hofner bass.
Rudy Schenkers black and white V, the actual one that was broken a few times that he got directly from Michael
Uli Jon Roths Sky guitar.
An actual guitar owned by Stevie Ray Vaughan
Randy's Polka Dot Sandoval or the white Les Paul.
The most expensive D'Angelica or Sadowsky ever made.
Actually, to cut to the chase... I would find the rarest most expensive guitar ever made and buy it. Then.. I would sell it, buy a bunch of guitars I actually want and with the balance I would retire a fairly rich man.

I have to agree with jgcable, you guys aren't thinking big enough! If I had a blank check, I think I'd get a real '59 Les Paul or something. If I ever decided to sell it, I could get evey guitar mentioned so far!

Headstock: Reverse
Binding: neck and headstock... I think that is everything. Now I am going to go cry because I will never be able to afford it!

I wouldn't be as ambitious as JGCable, but I was thinking a vintage Gibson. Something like a '57 goltop with PAFs, a '57 Custom with PAF's, a '58 Burst with PAFs, a '58 V, Explorer or Moderne.
