Re: What is your dream guitar?

Well, Heres my dream axe:

Neckthru Soloist body
Trans Deep Red or Aqua Quilt Top
natural body binding
Reverse Headstock with quilt & color match to body
Jackson logo in MOP
Dinky or Fusion width neck
Birdseye maple neck, Tung-oiled neck finish
Birdseye Maple fret board with Black sharkfins
Black neck & headstock binding
Black hardware
Floyd bridge
Duncan JB and 59

I have often thought about seeing if I could round up enough people to get together and find a Jackson dealer to do a limited run of a guitar similar to this. Obviously my dream axe isnt going to be the same as everyone elses, but I would bet that a guitar like this would appeal to enough people here to get enough interest to order one. I would be willing to compromise on some details of this axe if enough people were willing to get together for a special run of 10 or 15 of these so we wouldnt have to pay that outrageous custom shop price tag for one. SO! Is anyone interested in that idea????

For me, it's got to be a Charvel (San Dimas) reverse pointy headstock Star and a Bomber Graphic (early nineties) Warrior. It hopefully won't be a dream for too long!!!!

You guys are still not thinking big enough

With a cheque like that, I would commission at least three guitars from every boutique maker and custom shops in the world.

1. a LP style guitar
2. a superstrat style guitar
3. a "blank canvas" to let the luthier go crazy and do whatever he wants.

I would play all of them for a few months to select the best 10, which I would keep for my personal pleasure, then build a museum to display the rest(and let people play them for a reasonable entrance fee)

I would repeat the same process for boutique/custom amp builders to round out the museum's collection

I could live happily on the remainder of the money I got from the cheque, while all proceeds of the museum will go to a research institute for the advancement of guitar related technologies and luthiery skills.

If any of you actually have the resources to do that, I don't mind if you steal my ideas, just do it and the guitar-playing world will thank you

Good job on bumping into a 6 year old.

But why not answer the thread.

A better version og my King V (black with white pinstripes, Dimarzio pickups and stuff), w/ neck thru, a good neck pickup, neck binding and mop inlays.
A white Kelly. Single bridge pickup and the same bridge Marty used on his old Kelly's. And neck thru, binding, mop sharkfins, ebony fingerboard, 24 frets, standard JAckson headstock, sperzel locking tuners and extra thin neck.
A black Soloist with a dinky body (just a little bit smaller than the regular soloist) string thru, DiMarzio D-activater X and D Activator for the neck. 24 frets, rosewood fingerboard, reverse headstock, and a completely flat body, no curves or some access things, just flat. And scalloped frets from fret 19 to 24.

With these 3... I could be set for life...

Guitars: Jackson King V, Jackson Kelly, Jackson DXMG, Jackson DK2M, Squier Stratocaster MIJ '85 and B.C Rich Whitelock
Amps: Mesa Boogie Triple Rectifier, Marshall Valvestate 8100 and Peavey Windsor halfstacks.
