Wasn't there also a cover with Marty and Alex Skolnick (sp?) of Testament? Can't remember which magazine but it was years ago.

Right or wrong I don't usually pick up guitar magazines but I went ahead and picked this one up yesterday. It was nice seeing the Jackson content on the inside too, i.e. the centerfold and RR1 review. Good review.

What about Robbin and Warren on the cover of Guitar for the Practicing Musician? Or Steve Vai with his Charvel on the GFTPM cover...or Eddie Van Halen on the cover of Guitar Player with the black and yellow Charvel...or Randy Rhoads on Guitar World from 92....

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">No, sorry bud. Although I've seriously considered having a replica of that guitar built (...and still might do so), that's not what this order is. It's different.

I don't want to spoil the surprise but let's just say that if Jeff played a SD Charvel instead of that particular guitar, it might look a little like mine.

P.S.- The replica (...some day) would have to have a Floyd. Just like Jeff's.

That Firebird that Marty is holding is friggin' cool! The slanted single coils on it really suit the shape of the guitar.

I freaked out my mom with that picture of Mustaine (w/ beard). He looks like my uncle's identical twin-if he had long reddish blonde hair. It is very creepy.

The Gibson Logoed is the black and white (EVHI) a very early Charvel product, where Wayne Charvel claims to have cut the body and the neck was from Lynn Elsworth. The Black and Yellow (EVHII) has been claimed by Wayne Charvel, Grover Jackson, Lynn Elsworth and EVH himself. Basically, I believe it was Grover and Waynes creation under the request of EVH with Lynn possibly having a hand in it is well. I as well believe that under the time period it may have been a complete inhouse Charvel mfg guitar one of the first if not the first to leave the assembly line of future inhouse Charvels. I do believe that with the final production completed and bearing a Charvel logo, leaving the Charvel mfg facilities in the hands of JoAnne Jackson and personally delivered by her during the photo shoot of the VHII record, that is a 100% true Charvel and according to most industry standards. The same goes for the EVHI . BTW even as late as 81 EVH was using one of Grover's guitars in the studio possibly under negociations of an endorsement agreement. Just read Vinnie Vincent's account on that. EVH personally turned Vinnie Vincent on to Charvel/Jackson subsequently producing the Rhoads double V. I imagine EVH slapped the Gibosn logo on the black and white because it was his Les Paul Strat hybrid invention.
Charvels were the best guitars ever produced for the short time that the were produced. Both being the best and both being short lived. Great because of Wayne and Grover equally as popular for the quality and use because of EVH.
