Ok, so I was lookin through some videos last night of stevie and some other bluesmen, and as a result I think I need to get a strat. My question.....would a charvel strat compare to a MIA Fender? anything that would be a better deal like GMW or G&L?

Re: Strat ATTACK!
I just played a Hamer USA strat style (not sure of the model) and it was killer. I generally like G&L over Fender any day. Even the new import models are better than MIA Fenders to me. You really have to play each and every Fender before You buy, because the quality varies greatly from guitar to guitar.

Re: Strat ATTACK!
G&L quality varies as well. Because they don't produce the volume of guitars Fender does, the number appears to be lower. I would never buy one sight unseen. Then again, having sold G&L's for most of the 90's, I had an opportunity to see the bad ones.

Re: Strat ATTACK!
I love old Fender strats...not so old that they are insanely expensive or stupid to mod I like the 70's strats with the larger headstocks. I think even some of the newer strats are nice but can be somewhat inconsistent in the quality of the fretwork. One thing I wish they would do away with is the 21 fret neck I dunno why they make new strats that have 21 frets.
The Strat shape is my favorite shape, nothing cooler in my book and I'm glad they are back with the new Charvels. All of my charvels and Jacksons are full size strat shapes. I do have on dinky but I don't play it very much. I can't comment on the GMW just yet but I do have one on order, its painted and clearcoated and has to settle for while, I' so looking forward to getting that sukka!shawnlutz.com

Re: Strat ATTACK!
I've got this 1984 Strat Plus that plays pretty sweet.I had that thick satin finish that Fender puts on their maple necks removed and now it's tung oiled(very lightly) and it feels awesome. It's got gold Lace sensor pickups in it and unfortunately I think they sound weak.
but it plays great.
If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?
