Re: Kahler or Floyd?
Same reason as jtr654. Much of the tone (or transference of string vibration to the body)is lost in all the hardware. I don't know if it is all the moving parts or because the tremelo pivot is not really into the guitar, rather floating on the top mounted in the base. They do have smooth action though, most likely because of the rollers.Tone is like Art: Your opinion is valid. Listen, learn, have fun, draw your own conclusions.

Re: Kahler or Floyd?
Floyd. I have both and I have a hard time keeping my Kahler guitar in tune. I have to back off of the whammy where on my floyds, I can do pretty much anything I want to and I stay in tune.If this is our perdition, will you walk with me?

Re: Kahler or Floyd?
I would have to vote for Floyd because I've never had a guitar with a Kahler, never even played a guitar with one before. I am curious about them though. I've heard Kahlers seem to be somewhat smoother than Floyds. But as many of you have posted, I've also heard that Kahlers don't seem to stay in tune as well as Floyds. Maybe someday I'll try one for myself.

Re: Kahler or Floyd?
No question, Floyd. I had a Carvin with a Kahler back in the 80s and did not like the trem at all. The Floyd has better tone, more sustain, a better feel in the hand, you can do more "tricks" with it: It is just plain better.

Re: Kahler or Floyd?
I am not a huge trem dog to begin with, but have owned both. I still have several Floyded guitars and zero Kahler guitars. #1, the Kahler is ugly as hell. #2, I didn't like the feel of it when I rested my hand on it. The Floyd just feels better to me.Scott
