What's the difference between the Pro, DX, and JS?

I know the JS series is the lowest end guitar Jackson makes, but what makes the Pro series better than the DX series? And is the MG series basically the DX series but with EMG's? Let's use the DK2 vs. DX10D as an example... What's the diff? [img]/images/graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img]

Oh and I know about the wood on the JS guitars and they are made in India... It's really the others I wanna know about...

The JS line is considered entry-level, built in any number of Asian nations with pretty standard no-name hardware. The X series (including DX) started out as the next step up, originally called AX/S and built in India. Other than for a very brief period of Indian construction, the Pro series has always been Japanese. The MG line adds arched tops or other body shapes, different inlays and binding, and the EMG-HZ pickups. I would put the DKMG, SLSMG and WRMG at the same level as the Pro guitars, or even a little above. The DXMG is a good guitar, but started out being made in India with the rest of the X models. Now I'd consider it as good as the other MGs. Honestly, most of the Japanese guitars are of high quality, but with different features on different models.

So are all the X series guitars built in India? And are the MG's, except for the DXMG, all built in Japan?

AFAIK since 2002 all X series guitars were built in Japan.

Really low line X series like JX1, DX1 were still Indian, but those are like the bottom of the barrel and not worth discussing. [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

The DXMG, KVX, and RX stuff are all MIJ after 2002 like 5th said. I really love my black 2003 MIJ DXMG and KVX10!

Right off the top of my head, DK2 has binding.

plus they have different names...that's a huge difference in itself

There may be different qualety in the wood and other things.
Even if the harware and electroincs is the same, there may stil be huge differences if the qualety on the wood is different.

I remember Newc mentioning something a few months ago about how meticulous the Japanese Jackson factory is in choosing pieces of tonewoods that eventually become their guitars. Supposedly, the current line of Japanese Jacksons are perfect for hot-rodding in that they are guitars with great tonewoods but slightly lower quality components that can be swapped out for higher-grade ones if you wish.
