Anyway, I think a nice guitar would be a Kelly made like a Les Paul. Thick mahagony neck and body and maple top. Short scale.

And get them green and red ghost finish back. No other company has that!

I noticed some guys from Europe was wanting better accessibility to the USA Jacksons and Charvels, has any of that changed or is it still almost impossible for the working man to get one of these guitars?

In my experience, top end Jackson are available, although they VERY scarce.

The problem is the price: a new SL1 or RR1 costs 2400 €,sharp. We are talking about "stock" models, a black Soloist and a white Rhoads, nothing fancy, no Custom Shop, no graphics, nothing.

Charvel USA are impossible to find since they were re-introduced, besides the Van Halens, sold for 2400 €.

Actually, the RR1 costs today the same price I paid for her in 1999, when we didn't have Euro yet, but approximately the exchange at that time was 0.85 € for 1 USD. As you can understand, there's something fishy in Euroland...

Gibson acknowledged the problem, fired their importers, created a society on their own , Gibson Europe, and started to market their guitar at honest prices, I mean 900€ for a V, 1600 for a Les Paul Slash signature etc...I think that if we are talking about accessibility for Jackson Charvel this problem should be solved.

There's an interview in a french magazine released last month where the interviewer asked Hammett why ESP and not Jackson. He answered that he loves his Randy Rhoads and Jackson guitars, and at the time he was looking for a deal with a guitar manufacturer, he asked Jackson for an endorsement deal. They made him a 20% discount on his Randy, and they snubbed him (according to Hammett) and didn't propose him a deal, so he tried ESP and the rest is history.

It made me crazy when I read that. If they had signed something with Hammett, Jackson would be the biggest guitar company in the world!!! Jackson would have buy Fender and not the opposite!!! In an other magazine, there's an interview of Mustaine saying that he was ready to sign with Jackson again after ESP, and then Dean made him a better offer.

Imagine if we had Metallica and Megadeth with Jackson!

From my experience, buying US Jackson in France is not an easy and economic task. And I don't even talk about custom shop. The guitar are more expensive in € than in $ in the USA.

Fender France (the distributor) refused to take my order for my SL2H graveyard, and I gave a custom shop spec sheet to an official dealer in 2003, I'm still waiting for the quote. That's why I ordered my 2 US Jackson in the USA, where I got incredible prices, services... With dealing with US shops, you know why the english word "business" has no real equivalent French, because US dealers are realy incredible.

My concern now is that with FMIC rules, the US dealers refuse to sell me a guitar, so I'm little bit disappointed, 'cause I don't know how I will manage to buy a custom shop for my 30th birthday.

Otherwise, the distribution of pro series, X series etc.. has seriously improved since FMIC bought Jackson imo.

Wow the US dealers wont sell to you now?

Most in the USA were making good money to selling to you guys in Europe. If I were you I would keep checking with dealers in the US as I am sure some would bend the rules for you.

...if you have no luck that way see if a member here will place the order and ship to you.

FMIC has become so corporate and beurocratic that they are cutting their own throats with all these new policies. With custom shop limitations and now export regulation on domestic dealers I just dont see how they can do it in todays economy.

Have a custom order Jackson here is simply impossible, I tried to ask but they even say that Jackson doesn't make custom guitars, if the US dealers cannot sell to us, the game is over.

Alot of things Jackon has been doing in the last few years not only does not sound right but it is not right at all.

I can count at least 20 CS orders been members I know here that were turned down because of a stupid new rule or policy. I can only image the amount of work they turn down from all across the country because of stupid new rules.

FMIC as a corporation has been real strict and started cracking down on Fender dealers overseas that were selling to the US and other markets. Japan gets alot of cool Fender stuff we dont. So it would make sence they cracked down on Jackson. Its their loss.

I contacted some of them, if not all of them, and they can't sell oversea or they'll lose the right to sell all FMIC products.

Matt @ Matt's music did it, it's maybe one of the reason why he does not sell Jackson anymore.

What does ESP have that Jackson Dont?? Hmm Endorsers(Like EVERYONE has said) get NEW BLOOD,New "Metal" type players,Older/Newer Thrash,Death Metal,etc. Old shredders are nice,but some new "kids" just dont give a rats A$$ about that.

Now What I would Like to see Char/Jack do?
