Re: Charvel/Jackson wants you!!!

My wish list right now consists of the SL3 and RR5 MIJ models with white neck and headstock binding, that would make my whole freakin' decade! Otherwise, it's not quite a Soloist/Rhoads, but I can afford it...

Re: Charvel/Jackson wants you!!!

I have two ibanez guitars. what makes me like them a lot is the neck shape and contoured neck joint. neck shape is subjective, I guess. but the contoured neck joint is a big plus. it makes ibanez much better than dinkys and strats.

as far as neck thru goes, jacksons are the best and the most expansive and the lest available. I have been thinking about getting a soloist with string thru body for a long time. I am happy that it is finaly a standard option, but the availability is horrible. and it's not cheaper than floyd models. which makes no sense. I just ordered such a guitar from carvin. it's essentially a soloist with a solid finish. it cost me $850 including options and a case. I so wanted to get a soloist but you lost my business because of your price.

low end esp's are crap. but middle to high ends are good. they are very flexible with their models. they listen to users in their forum and make changes every year! they also offer a lot of set neck guitars just as schecter and ibanez do. (ibanez sz series is very popular now, check harmony central). the whole trend started with the PRS phenomenon. those three companies all jumped on it and offered mahogany set-in mahogany body no trem guitars with good pickups around $500 for people who can't afford a PRS. it is a big market that jackson has no part of.

so in summary, contoured bolt-on, cheaper neck-thru and mid range set-in PRS knock-offs.

Re: Charvel/Jackson wants you!!!

I really want to see the DKMG's in a neck-thru USA with an original floyd. Sorry, but the bridge that comes stock with the current DKMG's throws the entire guitar off I think. I don't like it at all.

More reversed head options would be cool too!

As already said, quality and consistency. I really like the DKMG's, but have noticed that the neck thicknesses vary from the normal thin and narrow to Fender Like thick and fat.

One thing I would love to see is an easy parts replacement option. I broke the head off my main Jackson about a year ago and finding a replacement was very time consuming. There should a better way to replace parts without having to scour the net for a stripped down used neck and without having to buy a whole new guitar.

That would make it an archtop soloist. It may be better/easier to find a Charvel 750XL and switch the pickups.

Re: Charvel/Jackson wants you!!!

i would like to see the old fat heavy chunky san dimas body strat with simply a hum B and single N real Duncans PUP'S with the newer thiner charvel\jackson dot inlay necks rather than the dimas C shaped thick fender necks (small hand player)..one volume and one tone control..always a real floyed ..and keep the colors ordinary ( CASH sound feel and play ability 100X more important than beauty my opinion)..I mod everyone i have to be like this ..my prefernce ..after i have my setup ..to me esp ibanez ect are just really cheap in comparison - thin parts thin sound
and i own one of each and several charvel\jacksons and have had many many other brands thru time.
signature models will impress the young ones im sure
but every one i have owned i simply havnt liked there setup the way (you who signatured it)likes and im not him so i prefer my signatured taste as for playing and feel lol
there good for show and tell i guess and wall decoration
as for show i would like to see and would buy the Jake E Lee Sig and some early years george lynch if they where made.

Re: Charvel/Jackson wants you!!!

Why is jackson so much better than everything else? The quality, fit and finish, the way it plays, and the neck, don't change the neck. Most comfortable, easiest playing guitars i've ever played or own is my SL2H MAH. The ability to choose finishes is also what sets jackson apart.

I think Jackson, or charvel, or both should go back to doing the 1 off SEMI customs; for example, I want that RR1 except with reverse head stock, reverse sharks, and a Pearly gates in the bridge instead of the distorsion. Yet still keeping the price reasonable.

As for regular USA made Jackson prices! common! I paid almost 3200$ canadian tax in, something like 2700-2800$ with out tax... I mean the can $ isn't much of a peso anymore.... id like to see some #'s under 2500$... common! It's pretty hard to decide when you have a 1500-2000$ jeff back sig strat, and then your 2700$ jackson, its not fair... had i not visited this site before hand, i would be a fender devotee. And for the semi customs, charge what you were origanally charging... just too expensive

I think a jackson should have a pointy body and a reversed headstock, It should be evil; be dark or blood splattered or something <font color="green"> </font>

Re: Charvel/Jackson wants you!!!

This is a copy of the email I sent:

Hello,

I enjoy Charvel and Jackson guitars very much! I like the way that Charvel has come around and has started building their bolt-ons the way they did back in the early eighties. I really like alder bodies, but also like the option of other woods as well. The only thing I can add as a suggestion is offer the strat style headstock as a standard (not limited run) option on all their guitars. I know that FMIC owns Fender, Charvel, and Jackson. Couldn't the legal types get together and work out some sort of deal so that this is not limited to Fender guitars only? To me, this would be a HUGE improvement on an already great product.

My two cents.

-Mark

Maybe this is a bit off-topic, but why don't you get Jake E. Lee back as an endorser? He's a big name and is returning with a new album this year. Make the return of Jake and Charvel USA a combined event!

Not a bad idea at all, I'd buy a strathead Jake if they could get them out the door for say $1500 or so.

Killer idea to bring Jake back into the fold! Hell, I think it would even be cool if Jake came out with an all-new pointy, rather than just try to recapture the past. My wish list for summer NAMM is for Charvel to pick up a new endorsee or 2, like Jake or maybe even the right modern player who could carry the torch &amp; get the attention of the younger crowd, and for Jackson to replace the discontinued SLATQ with a more old-school archtop with more gentle contours like the old AT Student or AT Pro, and to offer them in trem &amp; string through models.

Just sent this one off:

[ QUOTE ]

Ok, this has probably been mentioned and shot down a few times, but here it is anyway:
We've already accepted (mostly) the Big Fat Hairy Final "NO" for USA Jackson parts (necks, etc) but how about making import necks and bodies available from a parts catalog? No Custom-order stuff, just standard production items - same necks and bodies you can get on a complete guitar, with the same features, in the same finishes (or maybe unfinished?), logoed heads and all that (maybe even stamped "Official Jackson Parts" into the rear of the head or heel).
I and many others like to swap Jackson necks around various Jackson bodies, and with those clowns on Ebay raking in a fortune on DK2 necks alone ($150 BIN), there's definitely a market.
Of course, in my particular case I'd REALLY like to find a 24 fret KE7 neck to put on a WRMG body

Maybe you could kinda revive an interest in the 7-string market - or garner what's left of the 7-string market - with a 7-string WRMG/WRXT? I'd buy one. Heck, I've got a Custom Shop USA 7-string Warrior on order through MattsMusic, but I'm jonesin' for one NOW, so I'm probably going to butcher this poor defenseless WRXT body with a Dremel, a DR7 neck, some wood putty, and a little bit of luck to tide me over LOL
Please, save this WRXT's life and say you'll do a 7-string WRXT
Or an Official Spare Parts option.
Or maybe ink a license deal with Warmoth to do Jackson-spec necks?

Thanks - you guys and gals are the greatest

I agree with everyone. However, money talks in this business, and if Jackson is meeting their sales quotas with the prices they have, I'm afraid that this will all fall on deaf ears.

I, for one, would love to see a production model of the Rhoads prototype. Just my .00002

Re: Charvel/Jackson wants you!!!

1. Playability. The neck on most Jacksons is just right. Even though the heel could be sculptured a bit better on the bolt-on models.
2. Other guitar makers are doing the tranparent colors and the woodgrain clear models. Jackson should continue to do their versions, add more archtops, and get back to the artsy graphics that made them stand out. The custom finishes are what Jackson's are known for.

3. I think a Rhoads bass, if done tastefully, would be an idea.

Other things I would like to see:

. Maple fretboards.
. Different body wood choices, like the mahogany in the DR's.
. More softer color choices. Yeah black is cool, but a Jackson's finish should be different.
. The tremsetter option, like was said. Something to allow for drop tunings easily. Jackson is missing this market.
. Different options on the neck inlays.
. More string-through models.

In the 80's one truely believed Jackson was the best guitar on the face of the earth. We need to get back to that. Some things to think about:
. A friendlier Jackson, one with actual contact information.
. Serial number and model information for the public. Like an answer to one of my posts, access to uthenticating documents, charge if needed. "Make" that number mean something on the neckplate of a foreign made model. "Keep" the meaning of the USA made models. You are selling the illusion of owning your own custom, that starts with a serial number.

Wayne and Grover defined "custom" guitars. Even though your guitar may have had a twin out there somewhere, you felt you had a "custom". Jackson owners need to feel special again. Like the owners of the greatest guitars on the face of the earth.
Something that was 100% true in the 80's.

. Get a guitar hero endorsement that many ages can identify with.
. Give the public bolt on accessories and easy parts availability. Aftermarket Rhoads pickguards, custom knobs. This is an untapped market. Genuine Jackson. But also give us that ability to get repair parts easily.

Did I mention maple fretboards and artsy finishes?
