  • San Dimas style 2 control layout?

I have been looking at a few style 2 USA San Dimas guitars and noticed 2 control layouts. Either a blade switch and a volume or a volume, a tone with a 3 way toggle.
Are these just different year models? Maybe one modded? Doesn't look modded but some modders are very skilled. Don't particularly have a preference, just curios

do you have links/pics to the one with both volume and tone? I specifically remember that all the usa production models from 2008 until 2010?/2011? (I forget), including the style 2, had single volume knob ("meat grinder" knob with a roughish black finish) and the 3-way toggle, with the knob closer to the bridge. the current usa select style 2's have a single volume knob (shiny black) and a blade, with the blade closer to the bridge. I don't remember seeing any usa style 2's which came with both volume and tone but maybe it did exist at some point? pics/link would help...

looks like a 2008 usa production model. I think pagan gold style 2 was batch 1? looks like the original 3-way spot was replaced with a tone knob and a new hole was drilled for the new 3-way in between the original holes. the hole spacing doesn't quite look even. FYI these guitars sold new for $999 in 2008. very nice feeling neck on this series.

Thanks man! That clears that up. They want more than 999 now. 1,300 to 1,700. Are tgey co.parable to the USA Select?

I've never played one of the recent usa select charvels. comparing it to my recent jackson cs dinky, the charvel usa production models from 2008 are definitely a little more "unrefined" in terms of things like hardware, general fit, and wood selection (probably the biggest difference), but they're still great quality instruments and seem to have held their value well. i quoted the retail price but it's worth noting that 1: all those special color usa production models were kind of limited edition, and 2: there's been 16 years of inflation. i'm afraid I can't give a solid answer as to what a fair second hand price would be for those.
