That's YOUR Shannon? I've always wondered about that one. It's the only one I've seen with gold hardware instead of chrome. Beautiful.

This is my favorite thread.
I do not have a Shannon.
But I appreciate those of you that do!!
That one with the gold hardware is absolutely magnificent.

Pardon my ignorance, but is there any visual difference between Shannons and regular soloists?

darknight, yes there is.

Non-recessed floyd, slightly ifferent neck angle, I believe different pickup, neck binding over frets as well, non-mother of pearl jackson logo and the one I had Mike Shannon signed the back of the headstock.

That is what I remember.

BTW, EVHwannabe that is a sick sick Shannon. My goodness.
I am feeling GAS.

Re: Shannon inventory thread

<font color="yellow">To add to Joe's post, here is some more clarification.

The Shannon is basically a small, limited run Custom Shop model made in 97/98 by Mike Shannon. They are basically newer versions of the original San Dimas Soloist's.

They have the 4 degree neck angle, sported a Duncan Pearly Gates humbucker, and 2 Duncan Singles (I can't remember the model of the singles tho ) and a non-recessed Floyd Rose.

The fretboard is fully bound and has the fret end "nibs". The headstock logo is script, no MOP.

Mike also individually signed each guitar on the back of the headstock in a silver pen which was then clear coated.

They are awesome guitars and are/will be increasingly collectable in the coming years I think.

I love my Shannon, but I think it is going to be either semi-retired or permanently retired soon with the acquisition of another guitar to move in the MVP slot within my stable

Re: Shannon inventory thread

Well, no. I had about 12 but I've sold a few doubles (and triples) to make room for other Jacksons. I believe I have 6 left - the complete set, plus a prototype and the signature guitar. I think that's it.

I'm Shannon-poor.

And 1 more person currently owns six for a total so far of eleven members owning 16 Shannons.

Any more out there?

Another different spec compared to other modern Soloists are that the body wings are poplar rather than alder. Not very significant though, but still worth noting. Also, the neck heel is sculpted like the San Dimas Soloists. Here is a pic of the back, showing the heel:

Other than that, you guys have already mentioned all the differing specifications that set the Shannon Soloists apart.

Were the Shannons 3 piece necks? Or no?

Strangely I've never heard of that question being brought up before. Want me to try stripping the neck on my Shannon to find out?
