Perhaps you could try looking in the cavities, first. If they were left unpainted, you might be able to tell. [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img]

No worries there... my general laziness prevents me from doing modifications that extreme... [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img] That, and I'd have to have the Newcenstein mad scientist gene. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

About the cavity... it's a no-go. [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] Everything is painted black. The only wood I remember seeing is under the trussrod cover, but I would guess it's too narrow to determine between a 3-piece and a 1-piece neck.

Not sure which cavity you're referring to? [img]/images/graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img] Apologies in advance if you meant any/all of the following:

Take the cover off and try looking in the trem cavity on the back. Otherwise, look under the pickups or in the Floyd route on top. Those should be wide enough for you to be able to tell. ...At least, I think so. [img]/images/graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img]

I don't have one and it's not because I can't afford one...it's because I REALLY can't afford one! [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

the black one with the black pups used to be mine, real nice player....and i have one of the six slimers
the neck feels like it has a little more meat to it as well, compared to my other soloists

Yep, it's mine. And it is sweet. It's the only Shannon I've seen that is black w/ gold. I had a regular (non-Shannon) that was black w/ gold, but I wanted the non-recessed floyd and other Shannon features, so I waited until I spotted a black w/ gold (got lucky, I guess).
