Re: Favorite & Least Favorite Inlays / Fretboards
inlay:
like:
material has to be abalone or mop. I like most of the things mentioned like sharkfins, abstract shapes, tree of life etcetera, but things like blood drips and flames are not my cup of tea. abalone medium dots, especially off set can be really cool, especially on maple boards.
dislike
plastic inlays, extravagant inlays like skulls and bones, demons etc even if the material is right.
fretboards:
like almost all, but am not fond of light rosewood, usually because it is used on cheap guitars, which make it ugly even if the wood is not bad at all. a nicely figured rosewood might even be the most beautiful kind of fretboardmaterial like my acoustical guitar: clean rosewood fretboard without inlays , together with flame of birdseyemaple.
