• Popular myths about Charvel and Jackson guitars

I am thinking about adding a Mythbusting page to my site as I have many Fender and other vintage guys on my site that get bored and check out my Charvel Jackson pages. What in your opinion are some popular myths and what is the best way to address them?

Re: Popular myths about Charvel and Jackson guitars

One "vintage" shop I was in back in Arizona, I was listening to the owner talk on and on about old guitars. I mentioned I was into old Charvels and he says, " Yeah, but you gotta watch out for the plywood on those..."
I made a mental note to frequent that shop...

Myth #1 All charvels have "mojo" or are magical

Strathead charvels all vary. Some have great necks and some are just ok .. simply because they are hand made and different. It's all relative to the person playing the guitar.... IMO "Mojo" is all hype and nothing more ..

Myth #2

Ontario Jackson strats are inferior to San Dimas Strats ..

Totally untrue .. same people, same templates, same guitars- different logo. .. it's all in the hype of the San Dimas mystic .. so why does a mojo driven San Dimas Charvel carry more weight than an 87 Ontario built Jackson ... it doesn't it's all in the investment ...
Don't worry - I'll smack her if it comes to that. You do not sell guitars to buy shoes. You skimp on food to buy shoes! ~Mrs Tekky 06-03-08~

..... and how can we forget the ever-so-popular Ft. Worth, TX = Made in USA myth.

Thanks for the input. I was planning on approaching this geared towards non-Charvel Jackson players.

"Them are shred guitars, like Kramers".
Nothing could be further from the truth.
Charvels and Jacksons are fine all 'roud guitars. It's an instrument. You play music on it.
And Kramers aren't in the same league. Not by a long shot.

Jacksons/Charvels are not extensions of the peins.

Just kidding. Everyone knows that Jackson/Charvel are phallic symbols. And the best ones out there, I might add.

VERY IMPORTANT!!! Jackson is NOT related to Micheal Jackson, Jackson Brown or which ever celebrity who's name has a Jackson in it!!

.....and the one that drives me crazy is the :

"Wayne Charvel verified this guitar's legitimacy since he built it in 1985" crap. Wayne built parts, sold out in 1979, Grover Jackson built guitars.

Ask kids that just started playing, most of them know Fender, Gibson and Ibanez, but when it comes to Jackson, they will go ".....hmmm..Is it made by Michael Jackson?! or ..hahahhahha...when did Michael Jackson start making gutiars" (i'm not kidding)

And in Asian (other than Japan), most of the people thinks that Jackson is from Japan because US Jacksons are not very accessible here.
