    First guitar mag I ever bought was a Guitar PLayer from 1978....the issue w/ Ace Frehley on the cover holding a black Les Paul I believe. It's still in a box somewhere...

      First mag i ever bought was also in 1978 and had Mario Andretti on the front page with a John Player Special Lotus and.... oh wait, that's not guitar related eh.. sorry! [img]graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

          My 1st guitar magazine was from 1976. I still have it. It had a picture of Ace on the cover. I can't remeber the name off the top of my head. I also have alot from the 80's. I love looking thru them, and not seeing any web addresses. What a simple time that was.

            I've got a bunch of those old GFTPM's. Those were great magazines. And it was really interesting to see how that magazine and particularly the tabs progressed. The very first mags were a little, um, "rough" for transcriptions. But later on, they were tabbing out very complex songs and getting them right or very nearly so.
