• Jackson endorsers?

How come we hear so little about Jackson endorsers..I mean when you go to jacksonguitars.com there's a picture of either karl sanders or phil collen..come on, the endorsers page suck, virtually no info about what models they play, what they're up to etc...and also there are no sig models (yes except pc1 & jj2) which I think is really strange...that would be so easy for Jackson to do, I'm no scientist on the specs but I believe most players have slight changes in stock models..different pups/graphics or whatever, I think for instance Alexi Laiho used to play practically stock RR-1's but with 24 frets...which wouldn't introduce much extra cost but which would surely be a huge boost in sales for Jackson. I mean, ESP would be nothing without the big guns like Hetfield/Hammett, Mustaine, Hanneman etc.

in this regard it seems to me that ESP is doing a way better job...

not that Jackson might even need to boost sales, I know a lot of companies gone bad when production volume went up, but it would be nice if people could finally realize they've been living in a bubble whose burstin' is way overdue! fender gibson esp...blah

Yea it sucks.
But it is not about quantity, it is about quality.
I look at ESP catalog and I don't even know many of them.

Actually Alexi's RRs had 24 frets, yellow bevels/pinstrips, and bridge pickup only. Also he, like Mustaine, jumped ship to ESP.

I guess it's better for us guitar buyers, but worse for guitar players...people who are trying to make a living just playing music. I'm under the impression that a lot of the newer metal bands who would traditionally be Jackson players seem to do ESP, Caparison, BC Rich, Washburn etc. simply because they cut them a lot better deals...I want to stick to Jackson, but hey if I'm in a band that's taking off and someone else is gonna pay me or give me guitars for free you know I'd have to take a long hard look at the alternatives...

Re: Jackson endorsers?

I guess people at Jackson are not aggressive enough to look for more endorsers.
Or they are too fukking busy building guitars for sale.
Or Since Fender bought Jackson, Jackson people have no control over artist endorsement issue?
Imagine many of members here are still waiting for their custom shop guitars for many months, how is that possible for them to build guitars for artists?

They also do need better marketing and Artist relation department people for sure.
I remember reading interviews from 80's where these guitarists had closer relationship with (Grover) Jackson.

If Jackson/ Charvel want´s an up and coming endorsee who already has multiple USA Jacksons and would only want a discount on an occasional axe like 1x a year: Im right here. Although I think I need to finally get a press kit together and go hunting, AFAIK they don´t usually come to you asking

But like Rune, if something else came along (Gibson comes to mind, but I´d definitely be shot before endorsing IbeenHad or ESPee),I´d have to consider the alternatives. I´d take a lowball Jackson deal over almost any other deal, but if there´s enough cash involved....

Re: Jackson endorsers?

I think there's another thing that a lot of you guys haven't considered. Most of the younger bands I see out there using ESP and endorsing them are using the Eclipse and Viper guitars-ones shaped like Les Pauls and SGs. I'd say a good 90% of those guys use a variation on one of those two guitars. Jackson doesn't offer anything like either of those. So not only are they not giving out lucrative deals, they aren't really making guitars that appeal to the guys who are out there endorsing other brands either.

Re: Jackson endorsers?

I wonder how receptive they are to artists who come to them looking for reasonable deals, such as maybe a break on a custom axe or that sort of thing. I know that a lot of up-and-coming guitarists are playing Jacksons, sometimes uncommon models. Isn't one of the guys from Lamb of God playing a Jazz'R live? Both guitarists in Susperia AND Dimmu Borgir play Rhoads USA or Pro models. I know that the Minnesota band The Fifth Sun, who are the first American band to record at Studio Fredman in Sweden (twice, and unsigned at that), play Jackson guitars and basses, and based on their live show, they ought to be the Next Big Thing. Every local show I go to, I see bands playing Jacksons, but money talks...

they should go after dime of damageplan, he seems to have a wide range of fans, jerry cantrell would be a nice addition too.

"who would traditionally be Jackson players seem to do ESP, Caparison, BC Rich, Washburn etc" i don't think bc rich is in that game - they had Mick from slipknot and kerry from slayer ( this one is more important )also washburn afaik has only Dime(maybe not now as somebody said he's going back to dean),Ian and that guy from Shadows Fall.

Ibanez and ESp and as i consider Ibanez a danger in shred guitars and shred endorsers (jems and all that stuff) i consider esp a jacksons rival in metal market - true that their viper looks so much more metal than gibsons but many of the bands play models like m-1000 /h1000's

so a neck thru/set neck import with fixed bridge wouldn't be so bad (without slsmg headstock)

also more variants in import line of the esp and better specs ( you know, neckthrough/set through, binding on ltd 300-400-1000 etc, mahogany bodies vs jacksons bolt on without a sculpted heel , no binding , not so cool sharks etc.)that appeals to the players now.

i know there's a difference in costs between Korea and Japan but Jackson doesn't advertise that 95% of their import line is made in Japan not in Korea.

Brian needs to go back to work with Jackson again!!
We need some signature models of these guitarists.

i agree that we play jacksons because of the quality. however, the newer players won't have the exposure to jackson unless they get some visible endorsees. more visibility would get more people at least looking to try out the brand when they go to guitar stores...which would lead to more "shelf space"

DAMAGEPLAN's DIMEBAG DARRELL Parts Ways With WASHBURN GUITARS - Oct. 26, 2004

After a successful 10-year partnership, Washburn Guitars and Randall Amplifiers are parting ways with DAMAGEPLAN/ex-PANTERA guitarist Dimebag Darrell.

U.S. Music Corp. is shifting its focus toward new product development that will appeal to a wider variety of musicians. "We've had a great working relationship with Dimebag over the past 10 years," said Rudy Schlacher, President and Owner of U.S. Music Corp., whose brands include Washburn and Randall. "Dimebag has established his unique guitar shape and headstock as his own which cannot be associated with any one guitar brand."

With the recent acquisition of Parker Guitars, U.S. Music Corp. is investing significant resources toward manufacturing Parker Guitars and applying these new methods to Washburn's entire USA product line.

"Dime has established a consistent, definable tone that makes his singular style instantly recognizable to his legions of fans. Randall is continuing its product development strategy of providing flexible high gain tube and solid state amplification." Mr. Schlacher continues. "We are finding the variety of recently developed products appeal to everyone from the heavy metal guitarist to pop rock artists."

"We are extremely proud of our partnership with Dimebag Darrell; he has established himself as the premier guitarist of our generation. He is focused on developing a variety of new Dimebag products to be made available to his legions of fans around the world. We wish him nothing but the best for the future," said Mr. Schlacher.

Washburn Guitars, Randall Amplifiers and Parker Guitars are divisions of U.S. Music Corporation, located just outside Chicago in Mundelein, Illinois.

How much could this guy want? Hey Jackson, offer Dime a Custom Warrior or Star and some chronic and you'll probably sign him long term. Granted, he's not at the top like he was in Pantera, but the dude can play, and gets lots of TV time.
