i'm new to the site...and must say it looks prety cool. about a month ago, a friend asked me if my jackson was a usa made or import....well i dont have any idea as i was givin the guitar as a present in 92....well i started to try and do some research and another friend told me about this site, saying the folks here know just about all there is to know about jacksons......sooo, could anyone give me any advise?

while looking thro the gallery i found my guitars twin with a 1 digit difference in serial number....but that still didnt tell me anything about where it was made, my guitar is a 1991 Ltd Archtop Professional Serial: J91-107, mahogany body, flamed maple cap - fully bound dual sharkfin inlay - 12th fret inlay"Limited"

any info or idea's how track down the history on my axe would be greatly appericaed

Professional = Japanese unless there's an oddball running around that I'm not aware of.

Yes, it is a Japanese made guitar. One of the nicest import soloists ever in my opinion. If you're gonna hang out here be prepared to show pics. I think the admins give a new member 30 days to buy a digital camera or they're banned.

Skydog, I can't remember exactly but, I think there were about 250 of those Guitars made back in 1991. They are fantastic instruments. A friend of mine had J91-007, and I did have an opportunity to buy it once but didn't have the cash at the time!!! Some guitars had Reflex pickups, some had Jackson's. They came in two colours, Cherry Sunburst and Tobacco Sunburst. Also, the fingerboard is Brazilian Rosewood with Mother Of Pearl/Abalone Inlays.....very nice!! I'm not sure of the cost in the States but over here in England, they were £1399.00, only £100 less than a USA Series Soloist etc (with Graphic finishes). All in all, a very nice Guitar indeed.

Welcome to the JCF, Skydog. I've been hearing for years now that the early 90's Japanese Professional series guitars are almost totally on par with their American-made counterparts. I love my `92 Fusion Pro.
