• Custom shop questions

I'm working on my custom shop order and have a few questions for the wise ones. This is for a Rhoads by the way.

¤pinstripes only available on solid colours? what's that CRAP
¤(EMG pick ups), 9 or 18 V, what's the advantage of 18V?
¤custom block lettering???, does that mean it says CUSTOM SHOP on the headstock or is it the logo in different type of letters, or something else?
Yeah, I know, I suck

And at last, a question about something else. Never played on a neck with scalloped frets. With jumbo frets would there actually be any difference high up at the fretboard, like at fret 20?

Ok, that's all for today, thanks and see you next week

Re: Custom shop questions

Taken from EMGinc.com:

Question: Can I use multiple batteries?

Answer: Yes. If you've got room for multiple batteries in your guitar, you can use two batteries wired in series to power your onboard circuitry at 18 volts. The output level will not appreciably increase, but you'll have increased headroom and crisper transients. This is especially useful for percussive/slap bass styles where you can generate enormous instantaneous power levels across the entire frequency spectrum. You can also wire two batteries in parallel to provide a regular 9 volt supply but with much longer lifespan between battery changes. Although most of our products are rated for 27 volts, we recommend a maximum of 18 volts. The additional benefits of 27 vs. 18 volts are negligible.

And I've seen Rhoads pinstripes on flame finishes before. It actually looks quite beautiful if the pinstripes themselves are flame too. There's a picture of a custom shop Rhoads that has a trans flame maple blue body and natural flame maple pinstripes. I don't have the picture but someone will probably post it somewhere in this thread.

Re: Custom shop questions

I am sure pinstripes can be done on trans color as I have seen one before.
18V means, 2 batteries.
I guess when you have 2 in it, it gives longer life that you have no worry of running out of it.
Custom lettering is the custom shop logo that you see on many CS guitars.
Scalloped fretboard with Jumbo, great.
Only when you are not used to it, it will make you feel like you are playing a guitar with very high string action.

Oh, can't wait for that picture, PLEASE
I was thinking of trans black with gold pinstripes (on flame maple of course)
Thanks a lot for the answers NOTP.

Re: Custom shop questions

THANKS AGAIN.

Would the pinstripes in the custom quote form be the modern ones like in the custom shop generator or like those on the Rhoads in the link (Randy pins if I could say so).?

Re: Custom shop questions

Block Letters are for a name or something UNDER the logo. It is NOT the custom shop logo itself. That's if you want to put your name on the headstock.... it looks really tacky.

Pinstripes can be done in any color, and on any finish you want.

Want pink pinstripes on a transburst koa guitar? They'll do it if you request it...

not correct...you will not have any longer life with 18V vs. 9V. To achieve that you would have to wire two batteries in parallel, which would still give you 9V but a lot longer lifespan. So for the ultimate combo you'd have to have two batteries in series for 18V action, and then another couple in parallel to those for lifespan...totalling four 9V batteries in one guitar! So I guess that means, if I want a Custom Shop logo on the headstock, that is free when ordering a Custom Shop guitar?

No, it's having really tacky block letters spelling whatever you want UNDER the Jackson logo. It's an extra charge, not free.

I tried looking for a picture, but I can't find one.

No, my question was if you want "custom Shop" logo on the headstock, is that an extra charge or you just have to specify it and no extra charge?

Because that's where I got confused.
Someone told me if I want "custom shop" logo on my custom shop guitar, that will be extra charge.
