• Hello! (and quick question re WRMG)

Just wanted to say hello, being new to the forum although my Charvel/Jackson days go back to about 1987. My first Charvel was a pearl white Model 2 with rosewood board bought new and it played like a dream.

At the time I had my eye on a Jackson soloist or some such, in Black Cherry, but couldn't afford it - the Charvel was still pretty nice. Anyway, it all went pear-shaped in the early 90s, and I sold the Charvel and everything else I owned to get through, and hadn't played since.

However, I recently got a Jackson WRMG and have started to play again, and it's great. (tried to put a pic here but don't know if it'll work). Absolutely love the warrior shape, and personally I really like the pirahna inlays (not many people here seem to, tho).

My one quick question: when I bought the WRMG, it came with nothing - no card hanger, manual, or warranty - just a couple of allen keys. Is that normal with imports these days? I bought it new and it seemed a bit odd there was none of that stuff - but I figured it's a guitar, I don't really need instructions, right. right?? Is there anything I should know about the WRMG?

When my playing's back up to speed, I'd really like to find one of the original-type warriors with the angled board and pickups... but that's for another post at another time.

Re: Hello! (and quick question re WRMG)

well, my local dealer won't even give hangtags for USA jacksons...so in my experience, yes that's normal...but that doesn't mean anything.

the only thing that you need to know about a warrior is that it can stab as many people as a bc rich warlock!!

welcome, and enjoy the guitar!!
GEAR:

some guitars...WITH STRINGS!!!! most of them have those sticks like on guitar hero....AWESOME!!!!

some amps...they have some glowing bottle like things in them...i think my amps do that modelling thing....COOL, huh?!?!?!

and finally....

i have those little plastic "chips" used to hit the strings...WHOA!!!!

Hi, and welcome to the JCF it's a great place with a lot of knowledgeable (and sometimes even friendly!) people
Kidding aside...I'm glad you're back to playing...now I don't wanna cut the fingers of the new guy, but question about the WRMG really belongs in the Import section of the board.
Have a good one and enjoy your stay

Thanks guys. Right now I'm a bit in awe of the wealth of stuff on this board. I'll be careful to get stuff in the right place from here on in!

PS yeah, the points are sharper than a warlock, plus not every 10 yr old kid on the block has a warrior!! Actually I have a soft spot for the warlock, my girlfriend used to have one back in about 85 and it was nice! but the warrior is nicer, imo.

To answer your question.. it depends on where you got it. The GC's around here don't even give you the allen keys when you buy an import. Welcome to the board.

Welcome...you're gonna have some competition here (ME) when you begin to search for orig. Warrior's with the slant fretboard

thanks again. this place is fantastic.

Joel, I think you have a head start on me - there's no way I can seriously go looking for one now... but still, if I found the money, would the custom shop build a replica? looking at the form, seems like you can only choose from predefined neck/fretboard options... hypothetical just now, but you never know - and I'm guessing finding an original would mean big bucks in any case...

Well Greg...just finding a '91-'92 US Warrior is a task. They're getting few and far between nowadays. There weren't too many produced in those 2 years. The Custom shop would make a replica...they will do the slanted fretboard even though it's not listed on the form. An original US Warrior would most likely be worth somewhere between $800-$1200 US depending on the condition and the paint...some of the early ones had killer graphics like the Lightning graphic or the Saturn graphic.
