• I had an idea for a Custom shop Jackson

I'm thinking a string-thru XTRR with a 24.75" scale, mahogany neck through with mahogany body sides and a flame maple top in transparent black, dual Duncan Distortions, reverse sharkies, bound neck/headstock, 5 way switch with 1 volume and no tone.

How is this sounding to you guys? I think I might have to save up, if they'll even do it.

Sounds great to me!! I like the look of reverse sharks better than standard. And two humbuckers with a super five-way switch rocks!!!!

But yeah, other than the sharks, it sounds awsome.

Everything seems great excepts the dual Duncan Distortions.
How does the disctortion in the neck position sound like?
I know Dime did have Dimarzio Super DIstortion in the neck though..

I recently ordered one with string thru,Mahogany body/neck, reversed headstock with no inlays and dual Duncans but with Custom/59 combination..

sounds great to me! but like some of the others, I don't like reverse sharkfins either. if you like the dual distortions go for it...personally I'd consider a JB in the neck maybe.
now go order that thing!

The Distortion in the neck is the ultimate shred lead pickup. It is so articulate and responsive even under heavy gain. To me, there is no greater set-up a metal guitar can have than dual Duncan Distortions.

If they can do it, I think I'll have to start putting money back into my guitar fund. Of course, I'll seriously have to cut back on how many guitars per year I buy. 5 was a little much last year.

You know, I completely forgot about Dan's Rhoads guitars. But now that I think about it, I always did like those.

Oooh, what about a bound body as well? That might look badass. Can they do that for an XTRR?

24.75 scale XTRR would rule!

Bound Body will look killer
I saw a BC Rich V with bound Body and looked killer as well.
Mine will be a Black Star with bound body with White bindings.

Travis, sounds cool: You seem to be going down a similar route to me (mine's flame maple neck & f/b, crop circles, reverse head, mahogany wings, 3/4 inch quilt top, gold hardware)....
For the binding, you might want to check out this thread from the 4th post down:

Actually, I meant to mention that I've asked Matt to find out if they can bind an XTRR, so I'll let you know when he hears back from Jackson.....
