That's not a dragon... that's a serpent.

At least, when I think of Dragon, I'm thinking like a AD&D type dragon.

Re: Lawsuit over Silver & Black Dragon Graphic?

Mike - Since the Chinese were the first to have written documentation of Dragons, all Dragons originated from Chinese mythology (or rather, the use of Opium). Dragons didn't appear in European literature (like the AD&D style Dragons) until shortly after the introduction of Opium from the Orient. Of course, European architecture of the Gothic period included Gargoyles and such, which is why the European Dragons always have a more sinister appearance than the traditionally serpentine Chinese Dragons.

Either way, it's still a Dragon. Serpents are always snakes, and never have a Dragon-ish head. Even the Horned Python's head bears very little resemblance to a Dragon.
And before someone brings up the Komodo Dragon, the 'Dragon' name was bestowed by Opium-smoking European explorers/naturalists who didn't know any better

Seeing Metalgrasshopper's guitar reminds me of that one Speed Racer episode where there was some sort of bad guy's plane that looked exactly like a Chinese dragon. It caught fire and spun burning out of the sky. I love that friggin' show.

Re: Lawsuit over Silver & Black Dragon Graphic?

This site suggests examples of "Dragons" were noted all over the ancient world, in Egypt, Babylon, Greece, the Bible too, as well as China.

According to THIS website, there was plenty of opium cultivation going on all around the Mediterranean, WAAAAY before it was introduced to India, and then eventually across to China

So just when did dragon's first appear in Europe? And when were opiates introduced from the Orient?

Given the number of scholars who would travel from Europe during the Middle Ages to study in the great Arabian libraries, I imagine that plenty of Europeans were introduced to opiates in their southern travels, without the influence of Chinese opium.

In fact, it seems that, although the Chinese had already been using opium medicinally for ages, it was Britain's introduction of it into China as a recreational drug in the 19th century that lead to the downfall of the Chinese Empire
