Since Duncan rewound Ed's original pickup to begin with, why not?
What about all the people who've made money off of Warmoth and import Charvels with homespun EVH patterns?
What about all the people who made money doing "Brown Sound" mods?
Ed took the Charvel deal for the Ebay auction $$$, and licensed (i.e. rented) his stripe patterns to them.

I get a kick out of these pseudo "celebrities" He couldn't just say "I hated my image back then, I don't want to sign this one but how about I sign something else?"
He's not worth the effort but it would have been funny to go to Kinkos and get 5000 copies of that poster made and hand them out to everyone waiting in the lines

say what you will of zakk; hell, i've bagged on him too, but he stood there with vinnie, jerry, pat, and others that would come in from time to time, and signed those posters for a pretty damn long time. it wasn't a scheduled appearance, and he didn't have to do that. he certainly got a hell of a lot of points in my book.

while i was up there, i talked to vinnie a little bit and told him about the funds we've raised for dime's foundation. he was pretty appreciative, for sure.

i'd have to say that if i had to pick one moment of coolness at namm, that was it.

oh, and not that it matters at all, but that double rhoads has the made in usa under the jackson just like ours do. don't ask if the logo was full size or not, i wasn't carrying a ruler, and i really didn't give a shit anyway.

I agree with Sully.. While I'm not necessarily a big Zakk fan, he was not committed to be at NAMM at all. It showed a lot of coolness to go, be mobbed by many, and sign posters.

That was definitely the highlight of NAMM for me...that was so damn cool of them to take the time for pics and signatures....Definitely good guys in my book! I'm a pretty big Zak fan though.

On top of it for those guys they got mobbed while trying to look at the Dime memorial for the first time whichw as pretty emotional for them... If at any time they had an excuse not to sign stuff in the Dean Booth (no dean endorsee's there) that was it.
