  • NAMM Custom: 27 fret Soloists

Both of these were designed and painted by Arizona artist Mike Learn

Some of you may remember Mike's work on Megadeth's latest album cover The System Has Failed.

The blue one is called Skulls In Flames

27 frets, ebony board, single EMG, I didn't catch the details on the bridge. ML also designed the inlays, which are skull outlines with wings.

The second one with flames is a killer!
I think that is the most coolest of all from the NAMM.

I like the paint on the second one, but the inlays don't do it for me.

I love the flames, they look real cool. I hate tribal stuff. Doesn't appeal to me. Diggin the whole rest of the setup though.

I think Skulls in Flames is the better graphic - I also agree the inlays do nothing for me in either case. Amazing how popular Fd up inlays are becoming across the industry.

I'm not really a fan of either. They were COOL in the sense that obviously they are something different, but the graphics look out of place, and a little too sharp. Something I'd look for on a hotrod, rather than a Jackson.

I love the inlays on the blue skull Jackson... ot really on the tribal. Personally I hate dots unless they are small or offset but I can't stand fender dots I prefer no inlay over that.

I love that 27 fret flaming blue skull. Any ideas on when we know what dealer will get what guitar?

Just a side rant on the tribal graphics.
This whole tribal graphic thing is going out of style. I am sorry but I feel sorry for all those guys that got those stupid tribal tatoos including Kerry King. Its trendy and its going to go out of style then what. Laser tatoo removal and guitars like the hot pink guitars from the 80s that sell for less because they are totally out of style. Rant over.

Tribal went out of style a long time ago. I'm pretty sure the people doing it now are doing it because they like it, not because it's popular. If all we did was follow popular trends, Jackson would have gone out of business years ago and we'd all be playing ESP and 7 string Schecters.
