Re: Tell me all you know about JJ guitars.

There’s some variance in the JJ1 model.

Contrustion – Bolt on, oil finished neck, 25.5 inch scale length, rosewood fingerboard
Body Wood – Alder for solid colors, Korina in the natural finish models
Pickup Configuration – 2 hum, Duncan JB in the Bridge position Duncan Jazz in the neck position. There are single hum models as well (like yao’s), I believe the stock pickup in these models was a JB
Bridge – TOM Wilkinson with wraparound tailpiece or Wilkinson trem.
Unique Features – Ransom Note logo and Dice inlay at the 12th fret

The early JJ1s (see Deneb's) I’m guessing were made before Scott Ian had a signature model had dot inlays, Jackson script Logo and the Gumby headstock. AFAIK those are the only differences between the early JJ1s and the later models.

Priest,
Okay... here's my USA Jackson RGF JJ2 (2004):

A 25.5" scale string-thru mahogany body with a tunamatic bridge. It features 22 jumbo frets on an ebony fretboard, no inlays other than the dice at the 12th fret and side markers.
The neck is a soft-v shaped quartersawn mahogany with an oil finish. (the width at the nut is 1 5/8")
The pickups are Scott Ian custom Seymour Duncans.
No tone, only volume and a killswitch (which lights up!!) and a 3-position switch to use neck, bridge or both.
All chrome hardware.
Very simple, extremely sturdy and sweet to play.
The body is thicker than I expected to be (just under 2") and is not tapered or molded on the sides, I actually prefer it. It's a solid guitar, definitely.
Sounds incredible (I have 10s on there) and I snagged it on the bay for under $900 with the case.
Here are the pics! -Em

Ahh the JJ. The ugly and slightly retarded child in the Jackson family. LOL.

Re: Tell me all you know about JJ guitars.

I used to think they were kind of a bastard child as well, but lately, doublecuts have started appealing to me, and the JJs are friggin' dirt cheap and have no resale value, which means every one of them could be a potential score for me considering it's a string-thru USA for that price!

Alternatively, I could build a $1400CAN Warmoth LPS (like a Les Paul doublecut or PRS Santana style) to my specs... Hmmm... but then that would be $1000 more than I'm looking to spend.

I guess I know enough about the JJ2 and JJP (courtesy of Em, Moobs, and JacksonGuitars.com) but it couldn't hurt to learn more.

BTW, WTF is a JJ6? I don't think there ever was a model with that designation.

I'm curious about the Scott Ian endorsement. Mine has the extortion logo, dice inlay, normal JJ headstock, is #0330JJ which wouldn't seem to be particularly early, and yet doesn't have Scott's head & sig. Did his endorsement come later than #330 or did he not endorse the bolt-ons?

Re: Tell me all you know about JJ guitars.

I know that the JJ doesn't sell for crap.
I don't personally like the body shape of it, but it's got super killer tone.
My bridge doesn't happen to be the tone sucking monstrosity, it's like a combo stop bar tailpiece thing (they are 80$ street cost through all parts) and each strings intonation can be adjusted indivdually.
Mine has a 3 by 3 headstock, Jackson tuners, 22 frets, 25.5 scale inch length, jumbo frets, flat top, 1 volume, 1 tone, 1 three way toggle, 2 humbuckers (I believe Duncan Distortion and something else in the neck, I'm too lazy to pull them and read the back) 4 bolt pattern, slightly offset for stability. Solid rosewood on the fretboard, dot inlays, oiled neck, umm GLOSS BLACK (notp, did I mention mine isfor sale cheap?)

Did I also mention, not a dime in resale value. Em, you got yours for under 900? I'm offering mine for under 350$!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
