Actually I prefer it when they really ARE girls. Take Nightwish for example. Tarja is probably the most talented singer in metal.

But seriously, I just don't get the appeal of the cookie-monstrous vocal style. I can understand the appeal of a lot of musical styles that I don't personally care for but this is just one of those rare exceptions that really leaves me wondering why anyone would voluntarily listen.

Like I said...Cookie monstrous vocals have their place...some like them (like Me and Brother Bill)
Some don't....A good example of a metalcore band WITH CM vocals are DeadToFall, because they tend to lean more towards death metal...it just fits.

This kind of vocalization does NOT fit here.

Oh, and Ron...only Galder's backing vocals in Dimmu are cookie-monstrous. Shagrath uses that "witchy-screechy" vocal style, very fitting for Black Metal! [img]/images/graemlins/wink.gif[/img] [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I saw Dimmu at Ozzfest, while the music was pretty good, the vocals killed it for me. Except when the bass player sang. He had a good, normal voice. If he sang the whole time they would kick ass.

There are alot of Death vocalist who can sing very well. They tend to be the ones who do the "Cookir monster" vox best too.

Mikael Åkerfeldt - Opeth and others.
Dan Swano - Edge of Sanity and other metal and non-metal bands.
Peter Tagtegren - Hypocrisy, Pain, Bloodbath etc...
Chuck Billy - Testament

Just a couple of good examples. These guys can do anything with their voice.
