Re: Why were the JCF-YCE rules abandoned?

Thanks for the history. Unless I just overlooked it, why was the series discontinued? Lack of interest, etc?

it was killed the first time for a few reasons; mainly, we were getting a big middle finger from AMIC, and they eventually wouldn't let us have the serial #. it was killed the second time because when it's all said and done, it's NOT worth the hassle.

As mentioned the series was started because of Robert Witte. Consider that he is very good friends with Tim Wilson and that Tim has stayed with him when he is in Europe. When Robert Witte departed the JCF the days of the series was numbered IMO. Not to say that it was impossible to continue, just that the political issues (especially with the Fender buyout) are much more difficult when you don't have someone with a connection.

Other than a few prominent collectors most C/J's change hands more than the proverbial joint at a Foghat concert. I don't think it was realistic to expect most people to keep them forever or turn down a profit when selling.

actually, it was the buyout and the relationship that we established with the new owners that allowed the series to come back. i do remember when rob was kicking the original idea around, and it certainly was an exciting time. it was a great idea, for sure.

I'm amazed that it actually happened twice. There are usually political issues with franchised dealers that keep companies from offering limited editions like these.

I must say this if you were not an original buyer of the series why do you need to know the original price? I can tell you the price of an Original 59 Burst in 59 but you are not going to get that price today and really the original price ahs no bearing on it today. I cna buy a 2005 Black RR-1 and the original price will mean nothing int eh resale of it I will gaurentee a loss on it...

Realistically what is the chance that JCF-YCE Charvel can be done for us Charvel fans? As it stands Jacksons 2 - Charvels 0.

Sadly, since the JCF-YCE series is dead, the chances are slim to none.

And Sully trumps me... with his answer..

(note: saying that "Sully trumps me" is not a hair comment. Chewbacca over here doesn't have much room to talk. )

Just out of curiosity, what specs were being considered (or did it not get that far)?

I would've finally been in on this series...

yep.

but had it have been possible, that guitar would have easily cost over 2500.00

But with 50% down and a year lead time, I would have done it!
Oh well...too bad.
